'If It's Football, It's Vital'

We Aint Scared Of Pompey Fans

Steve Coppell has told Pompey fan`s you don`t scare us!

"It's a great atmosphere down there,' said the Royals boss. 'Pompey fans are so passionate but all these Premiership grounds are like that. But it's not something we're frightened of. We can cope with it.'

'I was never there as a player, although I've been there a few times as a manager with Crystal Palace and Brighton,' he explained.

'I'm not sure what my record is but Pompey is always a difficult place to go in terms of the football they play. It's one of the few remaining old grounds and there's a lot of character to it.

'The fans get right behind their team but it's nothing we're not used to. The dressing rooms have probably remained unchanged for many years. But we're not yet in the footballing elite where we can complain about things like that.'

Coppell on his team line up: 'A lot will depend on how people are after the Liverpool cup game. I'll see what's available and go from there. But Graeme Murty has no chance.'

Shame your away support at Chelsea last week was so poor! Didn't even take the full allocation avaialble!
merlin
thats not true! It was a sell out

HOW DOES HE LIKE THEM FANS NOOOW.
Lysimachus
I don't think merlin can say anything about chelsea support...... IT'S CRAP. It must be one of the quietist grounds in the prem!!! chelsea deserve better fans.

Nearly £50 a ticket, for the worst view in the stadium might have had a bearing on fans decision not to attend Chelski !! However,I think you'll find ALL the allocation was sold.

As has been said, Chelsea fans can hardly comment on the standard of other support - they're not exactly vocal in their support of their team.

nope tis true when scientists look for neanderthal man they frequently find him on the fulham road,... dead no wondering about wearing blue saying booog or ugghh, these words have the same 50 meanings to a chelsea fan, and the woman all look like David Mellor and they are either on drugs or support fulham.

oh and Coppell doesnt have to be afraid of the fans , he should worry more about the 3 goals that went past his keeper today

The police were obviously worried about the fans. Who ordered the horses & what was the helicopter all about. Nice earner for the police at our expense.

They are just as fickle here down under - All you were seeing in Sydney were Liverpool and Man Utd shirts - but for some reason a lot more Chelsea ones are on show now...and when Harry Kewell played for Leeds the same thing. I have seen a couple of Pompey ones too - apart from looking in the mirror.

... and the TV.
Lysimachus
Yes which brings me to the next topic - they are screening 2 more Pompey games in November (Away to Man Utd and Newcastle). So far we have been on in 4 games and we LOST 3 of them. So next week doesn't look like a good omen.
