Jose: David James was 'Outstanding'

Jose: David James was 'Outstanding'

Jose Mourinho has spoken about his anger towards the inconsistent ref and his respect for David James. Jose felt that the two bookings for the goal scorers where ridiculous.

He said;

'I am surprised that Mr Clattenburg showed both players a yellow card, as Robin van Persie jumped a wall into the fans (against Charlton) and he showed him no yellow card,' fumed Mourinho.

'They are two new players with big emotion to score at Stamford Bridge and Mr Clattenburg shows two yellow cards.

'I am surprised about the yellow cards, but this is Chelsea and I am not surprised.

'Every decision went against Chelsea. Crucial decisions like the two disallowed goals, which in my feeling were correct decisions.

'He did not show yellow cards to two Portsmouth players for fouls in the beginning and he gave every small foul against Chelsea in the last ten minutes.

'I didn't like his performance especially and to book the players after not booking van Persie, he should be embarrassed.'

'I thought the first period was very difficult,' added Mourinho.

'It is very difficult after European matches to play three days later, and early on, Portsmouth controlled the game.

'From minute 20, we should have scored goals. We had many chances, and David James was outstanding.

'The second half was the same. We played amazing and we should have killed the game, but we didn't.

'But they a good team with a good manager, and we got to a period where Chelsea is feeling the match of Wednesday.

'Lampard and Essien ran more than 12 kilometres against Barcelona. That, and to play a little more than 48 hours later, is a lot.'

'It is important win with goals from anyone,' said Mourinho. It is nice for (Shevchenko), as strikers live on goals.

'His action in the first half was unbelievable and the save from David James was beautiful, it was a super difficult save and it was good for him to score.

'Michael's the same, it is good for him to get a goal.

'To get his first goal in The Premiership is nice and we wait for him to get us ten goals this season and he will, so it was nice to score his first.'

Chelsea have quality players in every position and should beat Pompey at home but we matched them on Saturday apart from two silly errors at the back we certainly deserved something from the game, even when they tried bringing Jose Mourinho onto the pitch to make the 12th man. Money does talk but not every time. I'm please we scored another HOO DOO broken

I guess not many teams will grab something away to Chelsea so we've got that one out of the way. Regrettably our next game on the road is at Old Trafford....whoops.

Done Deal - Smith in permanently from Swindon

The interest Pompey retained in Smith, with him 'in our sights' has resulted in him returning to the Blues on a permanent basis after signing for an 'undisclosed fee' from Swindon.

Cushioning the blow

Much, that needed saying, about Webster's exit for Ipswich and the arrival of Clarke in return (and cash) has been said hasn't it? Doyle's been spot on with what he said.

Swindon striker in 'Pompey's sights'

Michel Smith, who was of course on loan last season, could return? He's still in 'Pompey's sights' by all accounts after Swindon informed him he's 'surplus to requirements' now.
