'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Benjani Thanks Fans

Benjani has praised Portsmouth, Harry and the fans for the patients and belief they`ve shown in him. He was on the score sheet today, in the two one defeat against Chelsea and has become a fans favourite.

'That time was a tough time for me,' he told the Daily Mirror.

'Portsmouth had spent a lot of money on me but the team was struggling and it is difficult for any player to settle in a team which is not doing well.

'Everybody was hoping that I would come in and change things instantly. Instead things didn't go my way and I found it hard. Here it's very physical and every game is played at a much higher tempo. I wasn't

'The thing that kept me going was the encouragement I got from Harry Redknapp, the other players and especially the fans. Harry knew if he dropped me then it would have killed me.

'If you're not playing well, you expect the fans to turn against you but they never did, no matter how I was playing. They were always cheering me. I'd never experienced anything like it.'

If Benjani keeps up his work rate then the goals will keep on coming!

Benjani has a tremendous attitude, helps set up many chances, leads the line well and occassionally knocks in a goal - while the other strikers keep scoring lots of goals - good enough for me !
