'If It's Football, It's Vital'

A. Cole: Chelsea are Boring to Watch

Andy Cole has added a bit of spice to tomorrow`s match against Chelsea by calling them boring. He doesn`t like to watch Chelsea because according to him they go "1-0 up and then shut up shop."

Cole said;

'I don't want to be disrespectful to Chelsea. What they've done is superb. But if you sat down and asked people who they would like to watch, it would be sides likes Arsenal and Manchester United, because of the way they play football.

'Chelsea play a totally different way. But that's their method and the way they are winning games. The Manchester United team I was in was one of total flair. We weren't a team who went 1-0 up and then shut up shop. With the players we had in our team, we just couldn't do that. We were going to concede goals. But nine times out of 10 we would get more than the other team.

'I think it's a totally different set-up the way Chelsea play. They have a system and stick to that system. If they go a goal up, nine times out of 10 they are more than happy to hold on to that lead and win the game 1-0. I don't think Man Utd are built like that. They have always been a flair team and are not going to change.
'For Chelsea, the top and bottom of it is they are winning games. No-one is going to complain.

'I'm not saying it's the wrong way or the right way. But Jose Mourinho wants to play football like that. Every manager is different.'

Meanwhile Portsmouth will be without Dejan Stefanovic (who is injured) and Glen Johnson (who is unavailable), these two should be replaced by Matt Taylor and Noe Pamarot respectively. Kranjcar is likely to start on the left with Kanu partnering Benjani up top.

Good luck to Pompey this weekend.

Boring! How can a team who wins the Premiership, scoring the most goals be boring?
merlin
IF this is true i think Mr Cole has just motivated them, Drogba will be falling down all over the place now, and will then score a fabulous non boring goal, then Shevchenko will score a blinder..my dream is becoming a nightmare Andy Cole just cost me a tenner

Never a good idea to slag off the team you're about to play. If winning is boring, I'll happily be bored to death watching Pompey.
storagematt
don't think cole was slagging them off, more pointing out their style is not to his taste

Should of kept your gob shut Cole

This issue reeks of Mido.
Lysimachus
Should never motivate the opposition by slagging them. A few years back in Sydney a loud mouthed St George Rugby League player said that Melbourne Storm were not worthy Premiers when they beat his team the previous season in the Grand Final. 24 Hours after he brandished the statement St. George were put to the sword 70-10 by Melbourne... You just don't do it.
pompeygray
then again, we were given an unfair 2-1 result against us after mido branded campbell as the worst defender he has faced, even though it's so incredibly obvious that he said it because he used to play for arsenal they still won.
Lysimachus
Chelsea weren't so boring to watch yesterday were they! It's always asking for trouble saying things like this before a game.

Cole is being paid 40k a week so cant he shut up
