Harry: We Could Beat Chelsea!

Harry Redknapp has told his players that there is no reason Pompey can`t go to Chelsea and win. The champions are yet to loose at home in the premiership under Mourinho.

'Somebody has got to beat them there some time - so why not us?'

'Apart from last season, I've always taken a very decent side to Chrelsea and this will be no exception.

'Even last seasson when we were desperately short of quality we gave Chelsea a test and were well in the game for 70 minutes before losing 2-0.

'Now it is just nice to be going there with 16 points already on the board from eight games and everybody feeling confident.'

'Chelsea are the best around and after watching them on Wednesday, playing without any width but still coming up with a great win, I just don't know how they will play against us.

'There is so much talent there in the squad that they can field any 11 and it will be top class. It is the sort of situation we are aiming for here.

'I've got lots of options up front and in midfield and I will continue to try to mix them up to the best effect.

'We had a great start to the season with five clean sheets and it was important to come back with a win against West Ham after we had lost a couple, because in the next few weeks we have some tough away games at Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal as well.'

I know a Chelsea fan that just goes to home games and has never seen them loose! (only been attending games since Mourinho joined) Is it unrealistic that Pompey can become the first team to win against Jose`s side at the Bridge?

The team need to play the best games of their lives, chelski need to have a Euro hangover and then who knows we might just get a 0-1 win. this would be brilliant as i would have £53 to drink, although i would be willing to forgo the winnings for a 0-2 or 0-3 win. I shall also consider a draw acceptable and shall limit my self to a mere £17 binge. I suspect however i shall remain sadly sober for the journey back.

We haven't scored a goal against Chelsea for Donkeys so either it's time for a change or it's business as usual.

no GJ, no captain so there goes a tenner, i think sol should be captain for this game.
russellm
We could do it! I'd happily take a point, but if we can score (which we usually fail to do against Chelski) we have a chance. If we don't score we will be lucky to get a point but if we can score maybe we can get all three...
pompeyrug
cole to prove he has still got it ... 90th minute wonder goal! 0-1 .... *wakes up*

Harry's right we can beat them at the bridge. just give each player a pickaxe handle. To be honest it's a tall order but we have a good side and if we can keep things tight we might just nick something.

Its only 11 v 11. I watched J Terry recently and he got pulled over to the left and the winger skinned him. Try doing that.

if we DO go and beat chelski at the bridge and we do so convincingly (even at 0-1 and hold our own) I think many of the other teams in the Prem will try harder to break us, so what is in our best interest?
pompey pessimist
yes we could beat Chelsea harry! very clever. I'd settle for a point and our first goal in six against Chelsea. As this is the rabbi speaking, i'd like to point out that the fixture will throw together two chairman who are both Russian Jews. A first I think for the Premiership. how boring am I?
The Rabbi
Hi pessimist how are you? I was going to say that Rabbi but i thought you'd tell me off again... its no fun being christian.
russellm
I spent many years cheering Beer Sheva Rabbi, how boring am i ?

We have a chance, a small chance but a chance. A draw would be a mssive result for us. Thinks we need to look at 3 pts at home against a difficult Reading side n/w as a priority.
storagematt
Chelsea will be to strong for us, there bench will cost more that our team. They are in the Chelsea squad because they are the best in there position. Saying that it is 11 men against 11 men, we will have the play the best we have even done before and attack them from the start and not fear them.
nelson
sod it, we normally lose so attack attack attack!
paultsmouth
we're gonna miss gj though
paultsmouth
If we do some immediate attacking and a defensive midfield play centering Mendes in the 2nd half then we should be able to show effort.
Lysimachus
We could also lose to the likes of Watford. Stupid statement really. Of cousre we COULD beat Chelsea but in all probability we simply WON'T. I'll have these words with Salad on Sunday..
pompeygray
as a chelsea supporter, i want to wish pompey good luck. that said, whatever the result, i lose as im at pompey uni!
