Johnson: Best to Come

Johnson: Best to Come

Glen Johnson has praised Harry Redknapp for raising his confidence and has explained why he joined Pompey from Chelsea.

'I had a couple of years not playing, so this season is massive for me. I just wanted to play. At Chelsea, I just had to keep my head strong. It was difficult coming in for the odd game. You're not as confident as you might be when you're starting one game in six.

'You can't describe your feelings when you're not playing. You're down. You're not yourself. You get the hump.
'But Harry Redknapp told me if I was to come here rather than go to Holland, where I had an offer, I would be in people's eyes. My confidence is built by the little things Harry Redknapp says, little comments that might go unnoticed, but stick in your mind.

'I'm getting there. I know I can still get better. I feel I've got more to give. I've been through a lot. I've been relegated and won a title. But people forget I'm only 22.'

I`ve been impressed with Glen thus far and any improvement would be welcomed by Pompey fans…

I think GJ has been great, i didnt understand why ruggers was criticising him previously, i waffled then in contempt then and i'll waffle the same now he "is a clear level above anyone who we have ever had play in that position for us" and the most entertaining !! (except of course the wonderfull Noel blake who could score an own goal from anywhere in our half) It's a shame GJ cant play against chelski, the info i have is that it is not in his heart is to go back there and nor do the chelski fans up here expect it and they are resigned to losing him. I never really understood why people rated him until he joined us, the blokes work rate is phenominal.. Ilove glane so much... I think Les should have his children

Glen Johnson has been great for us but he was shocking against Spurs, nobody can doubt that... I've not played for ten years having had to quit the game but even I could have put in a better performance than he did that day even with my dodgy knee. Everyone has bad games, and he had a couple, but on the whole he's been sound and I'm more than glad we've got him, hopefully we can keep him...

We know Danny you want to stay!

In case we had forgot Hollands has reminded us of his desire to stay with Pompey! I'm not 'desperate' either way in many ways but sorting this quickly would be best for all concerned.

Three more pre-season games announced

'Glamour ties' are loved but pre-season is about fitness and form so it doesn't matter if it's Barcelona or Bognor... Then again a trip to the Nou Camp wouldn't be turned down!

Sheffield United loanee open to Pompey return

McNulty would welcome a permanent transfer to Pompey. Although the Sheffield United striker could well be part of new manager Wilder's plans, so the chances seem 50:50 at best?
