Our Best Signing
On our latest Vital Pompey poll we are asking you who Pompey`s best signing was this summer. In the summer transfer window Harry bought in a whole new team worth of players, improving the depth and quality of the squad.
These signings made an instant impact, with Pompey top after five matches. This is your chance to credit a Portsmouth player (other than Linvoy) for the early impression they have made on your club.
Sol Campbell
This guy has not only improved Portsmouth`s defence but has helped everyone around him. Sol came from Arsenal on a free transfer (as the song goes). Many people believe that this man should be captain; with many more thinking England should have him in their squad.
Glen Johnson
Glen joined Pompey on loan from Chelsea after turning down a couple of teams from abroad. In my eyes he has been superb for Pompey this year and has not received the credit he deserves. Johnson has the opportunity of joining Pompey on a full time basis at the end of the season and fingers crossed he will.
Manuel Fernandes
This guy will probably receive the least amount of votes because he has only played a part in two matches. There is a real buzz around this guy! He is apparently going to become superb for our club and has been likened to Paul Ince. Manuel should play a part in the West Ham match.
David James
Somehow he isn`t in the England squad? James signed from Man City over the summer and has been very impressive so far. He`s only conceded three goals in seven games which is a superb achievement, he has probably stopped a further six goals by pulling off world class saves though.
Kanu
Received some stick after the Tottenham game for not doing enough running despite scoring Pompey`s only goal. Kanu has bagged five goals and is the third highest scorer in the Premiership. He looks good on the ball and seems to be enjoying his football on the South Coast.
Andy Cole
Only played ten minutes for Pompey so far (at Tottenham) but is likely to feature against West Ham. Although he hasn`t made an instant impact because of fitness, many people pin our goal scoring hope with him.
