Pompey Player In England Call Up

Pompey Player In England Call Up

I think that it`s vitally important that at least one of Pompey`s English players gets into the England squad.

English Player

David James
Matthew Taylor
Linvoy Primus
Sol Campbell
Glen Johnson
Gary O`Neil
David Thompson
Sean Davis
Jamie Ashdown

Portsmouth has to be seen as a club that players can progress their careers at. Winning trophies may take a while but England call-ups shouldn`t. Glen Johnson and David James both came here with an ambition of getting into the England squad.

Back to the title- Mark Hateley was the last player who played for England. His last match for England as a Portsmouth player was a scoreless draw with Chile in Santiago on 17th June 1984. That`s 22 years since Pompey had a player playing for England.

In response to heading criticism- I write articles (and headings) for my website readers and not for the websites such as NewsNow who choose to put my articles on their search engine.

I can see Glen Johnson making the England squad but the likes of James, Sol, Linvoy are now past there prime to play for the national team. I think Davis isn't good enough compared to the other midfield players already in the English team, i.e. Lampard, Gerrard, Carrick etc. MaClaren should becareful what with this new Ageist Law coming into effect this month maybe Sol Campbell & David James could take him to court. LOL Don't get me wrong I'd be even more proud to be a Pompey fan if Sol or James pulled on the England jersey again.

Your havin a Laugh mate. Sean Davies is an unsung hero. Last season he was unfit and over weight. But watch him now, he never stops. Im sure he is not far behind Mat and Garyo with the ground that man covers. too many people only see a players worth if they Score the goal, win the game, break the oppositions players. But watch his ALL round performance week after week, game after game, and i dont see how anyone can say "He Struggles for us".

Pompey at Crawley called off

Pompey WILL NOT climb into the top 3 this weekend - whatever Carlisle do - as the game at Crawley has been called off.

Lalkovic heads to Ross County

In a somewhat odd move - admittedly he's not been involved that much - Pompey's former Chelsea & Walsall winger Milan Lalkovic has joined Ross County on loan.

On this day in history...21st January

A look back at this day in history, and what was happening with Pompey courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, 21st January.

Crawley in doubt

Pompey have the chance to move into the automatic promotion places - if we beat Crawley and Carlisle fail to win - but the elements might rob us of this possibility?
