Lua Lua: I`ve Got to Fight For Place

Lua Lua: I`ve Got to Fight

Lua has admitted that he is facing a battle to be in Pompey`s starting line up. He came in for some criticism after the Tottenham game and has apologised for his performance.

He is hoping to get into the team for the match against West Ham but admits he wouldn`t be surprised if he was dropped.

'I wasn't happy with how I played against Spurs. It was disappointing.

'But it was my first real game and on reflection I'm not as fit as I could be. I'm lacking sharpness.

'I just wanted to play, but, on balance, it may have been better waiting.

'When I was injured I was trying to get over the ankle problem.

'I wasn't concentrating on my running and fitness so much.

'What I'm doing now the ankle is better is a lot of running and getting my sharpness back.

'I'd like a run in the team, but to do that I need my sharpness.

'I'd be happy with just some kind of run-out against West Ham.

'To be honest I'd understand it if I didn't start.

'But it's football and the manager is going to do what he thinks is right.'

'I have a game for DR Congo on Sunday and I need to play for my fitness. I need to play and they need me.

'I know I have to fight for my place at Pompey so I want to get back to the right level quickly.'

I think Harry will watch his match Sunday closely because he looked way off the pace at Tottenham. An international match (in this case) is ideal.

well, he was unlucky that Paul Robinson pulled out a great save at teh end becasue otherwise his "poor performance" would have been hailed differently... phew I say..

He'll be ok. He used to be selfish, but i noticed at West Leigh park against Villa reserves he passed the ball a lot more, and played well with Cole. He passed the ball a lot more at Spurs, although a lot of the passes were no brilliant. What i do like is he is admitting he is not 100%, he is passing and using others more, but he is still Lua Lua, and will upset people at time with his lone ranger tactics at times, but some of his best goals come from that un-predictablilty, so would you want to train that out of him??? i dont think so, i think it adds to being Lua Lua, and adds to being a Pompey Fan. A real Talent.

apparently he was originally arrested at his flat following a 2am domestic. And further action has taken place. Maybe its presssure of competition and loss of a baby etc. but it is all speculation until the police or club makes an anouncement but it sounds ominous for him.

So this what he means by 'fighting 4 his place'. 'Get the ****** out of my flat'.

He's a great talent, and as much as he frustrates me I like the guy. He knows his short comings so if he sorts these out we'll benefit...
