25th Wednesday Night Newcastle (No Thanks)

You may be a dedicated Pompey fan who cares deeply about his club, but going to a Carling Cup match, in Newcastle, on a work night may prove difficult.

On the 25th of October Pompey will travel to Newcastle to play a third round carling cup tie. Pompey are likely to name a weakened team in this inconvenient match for the blues. However, every Pompey fan wants a good cup run and will be hoping that we come away victorious.

THIRD ROUND DRAW

Wycombe v Doncaster
Sheffield United v Birmingham
Leicester v Aston Villa
Watford v Hull
Leeds v Southend
Chesterfield v West Ham
Notts County v Southampton
Newcastle v Portsmouth
Charlton v Bolton
Liverpool v Reading
West Brom v Arsenal
Port Vale v Norwich
Everton v Luton
MK Dons v Tottenham
Crewe v Manchester United

Why put a weakened team out. Earlier this season Harry said "This team deserves a good cup run" To win the cup you need to beat teams like Newcastle, Liverpool etc Buggered if i'm going to travel 300 miles to then watch the reserves lose and then travel another 300 miles thinking about who we could of drawn in the next round

Why couldn't we get an easy tie like Scumhampton at home. Fratton Park would be packed to the rafters

Like others I've been to Newcastle to watch us lay down & die 3-0. Our first season back in the Prem. We were utter *****e. That was a Saturday game. Went up very early on the Sat. Stayed overnight back the Sunday. We all got food poisoning from the dodgy hotels breakfast & it we paid a small fortune for the privlige. Bugger if i'm going to do that again in a hurry, let alone midweek. Sod the cup run, it's always about the league.

I was at the same match storagematt, I flew up from Stansted and avoided the Food poisoning. Are you sure it was food poisoning and not the 12 pints of Newkie Brown Ale or did you eat that dodgy pork pie. LOL...... (Not laughing at you getting Food Poisoning might i add)

I have also noted that we have Liverpool on Wednesday 29th Nov with a kick of of 8pm. Time you get out of the ground and back on the motorway we'll be home for abot 2-3 o'clock in the morning and you certainly wouldn't want to stay overnight there.

Not that I'll have to worry about it, but would rather spend an evening in Liverpool than Newcastle. At least the women are better looking as I recall. Hope Harry fields an A team though. Any road to Europe next year is surely worth it.

The women are better at nicking your wallet in Liverpool than the Geordie girls you mean

What do we hope for from the rest of the season?

There seems to be a lot of unhappiness around, despite a pretty decent season in my opinion. Well, certainly our best season in a long while.

Debut delight...kind of!

It wasn't a result, and in many ways a performance, for Sheff United loanee Freeman to remember too fondly as he didn't really have a great game against Orient? Then again who did!

Tubbs has left the building

Tubbs has finally left Pompey; perhaps his destination is something of a surprise then again there had been some 'rumours' recently of an Eastleigh interest.
