82% Want Dejan Out
82% Want Dejan Out
82% of readers want Dejan Stefanovic out of the side. Such a high number, may seem slightly harsh considering how loyal he has been to the club.
55% of voters said that Dejan should be (and will be) dropped from the team, with Matty Taylor coming in at left back. This would allow Kranjcar to play left midfield and Pompey would have two attacking wing backs, in Glen and Matt.
27% thought that he should remain in the team, continuing the role of left back. Some people have been impressed with him at left back and believe that we look better defensively.
18% think that Dejan should be left out of the team but don`t believe that Harry has the guts to drop him. Harry wasn`t the one that made him captain but hasn`t changed the captaincy on his return.

yep agree, he cant be an automatic start now, at spurs they pretty much concentrated on him and it showed russellm
as much as i like Matty i don't think he's a good defender. He trys his hardest but when he's at left back the opposition concentrates there even harder. I think he's a good winger but not a good defender. Linvoy#1
really like Taylor, and would have no problems with him playing at left back, although personally I think Dejan has shown his best form for sometime this season playing at left back, has defended well and also got forward well. I don't think Niko did him many favours on sunday to be honest, he left him exposed a lot and one person can only do so much. With Taylor in front of Dejan we've looked better. Even if Taylor plays at left back, although he is far more mobile than Dejan I think we'll be left with the same scenario with Taylor being expossed... pompeyrug
Pompeyrug, i dont agree. Kruchie was the most dangerous mitfielder in our team. Taylor is a big figter, but he lacks tehnique to play up front so he has to play in back four or be on the bench... Niko is our future alongside Fernandes. hr_fan
Mat is better as winger, he is a terrific player, but not that nimble and flexible enough to be a defender... not permanently anyway. He'll cover the spot well, when needed but he is better up field causing havoc. Midge
Taylor is a better midfielder than in defender, we don't have another option so Dejan should play LB until January when we can purchase another player then drop Dejan to the bench. Agree with Storagematt should of signed Barry, at Villa he is playing very well I hear. nelson

Dejan shouldn't be made a scape goat for a couple of fluky losses against talented opposition. Think back to pre the Bolton & Spurs games to the job he did. Nothing against Matt Taylor but Dejan has been doing the job & a couple of fluky losses shouldn't change the back four. Am looking forward to seeing Douala on the left side once he's fit since I think we need more of a wing game going on to cause havoc on other team's defences.

Also don't agree that Lua Lua and Kanu cannot make a good strike partnership. One game won't show chemistry. It may sound unreasonable but Im quite honestly fed up with Benjani's lack of finishing. He may be a good set up man but we bought him to score goals & if can't do so he'll be spending a lot of time on the bench once Andy Cole is fit.

No room for sentiment if we want to be top ten. Look at Man U when a player steps out of line. We need a little streak on & off the pitch. Nice guys win f all.

i think dejan should be dropped but from the team, opinion and everyone has their own opinion. It looks like most fans also want to atleast see Taylor at left back

Somewhat disagree, but I suspect Harry will put Taylor at left back vs. the Hammers anyway.

I just think that overall, he's done a very competent job of it, particularly given that it isn't his natural position. Was also impressed with his set plays early on in the season.

i did not vote, but i said that Dej shouldnt be an automatic start and i havent changed my mind. he has not played badly, he is solid but he is not mobile enough to play against some teams. I also stated in what i think was pompeyrugs first article that i did not think matty taylor is particularly good in defence, he came on against spurs and from my point he ran stright out of position and left the defence exposed. The reality is, if it was taylor tackling Zocora he probably wouldnt have had to dive. Against the wigan's, readings , watfords, blackburns, fulhams, Shef U etc of this world Dej will be fine. But against a quick attack like manu, the arse or lets be honest even the frogman Dej will struggle. But again there are not that many teams who are in that range so is it a big problem., i do not know the the answer.. LoL i shall consider it in the pub tonight.

yer agree with most of that, i also think that we need to look at how attacking we are down the right compared to the left. On the right Glen is pushing right on, where the left sees dejan sittin back

Dejan hasn't done a lot wrong. He is out of position but a few weeks ago we were all shouting and screaming praise at our defence, and that defence included Dejan. I agree he shouldn't be captain because he doesn't communicate with players on the pitch. One bad game doesn't make him crap. We probably have the best defending coach in the Premiership so i'm sure Tony Adams is helping him adjust to that position.

dejan has been solid so far at the back (bar spurs) i think the mistake against spurs was tinkering with the formation, why change it?

Benjani was the scapegoat against Bolton now Dejan for a reason I really can't figure out against Spurs this time. I'm not his biggest fan by any means but I really can't see what the guy has done wrong??? I think he's in the best form I've seen from him in a long while. He made SOOOO many mistakes in the heart of the defence, which luckily many went unpunished before and thought he'd now looked good in defence and pretty handy coming forward. Also though he had an OK game against Spurs, no worse than Sol who wasn't a his best, certainly better than Glen Johnson who was poor! Linvoy was superb again. I still feel he lacked the cover on the left from Niko, so Taylor, or whoever plays, or had played there would have been in the same position...

I think Matty in left midfield has complimented Dejan at left back as Matty does so much running and covering - Richard Hughes said on 107.4 that Matty (and Gary O'Neill) covers 16km in a match ! If only one of them plays then we might have a weakness.....

can we have another poll now, on Should Dejan be kept in the team? i bet he STILL gets 82%, as i suspect alot of the votes come from scummers, and they always vote the opposite same as we would on their polls... COME ON LETS ALL GO VOTE TO HAVE RUPERT REINSTATED LOL. But if your poll indicated that we were not happy keeping Dejan (Wording be Should we keep him), i bet them dumb bums would vote YES lol

How does this help Pompey or Dejan? I never post on this site but I think this "poll" is a disgrace. Dejan is a great servant for the club and deserves better than this rubbish.
Or perhaps instead of voting for Player of the Month you could start a poll for Scepegoat of the Month. First winner Dejan.

its not a question of agreeing with the results or not. the idea of a poll for "who should we drop" doesnt make sense. we should be celebrating the best players not undermining ones who have one dodgy game.
last season we could have had a poll 80 percent want benji dropped. how would he have felt if he had read that?
