64% Back James`s England Plea

64% Back James`s England Plea

64% Back James`s England Plea

64% of Football fans have backed David James, claiming that he should be in the England squad. Ben Foster is currently ahead of David James in the England keepers pecking order.

22% think that he should be England`s number three goalkeeper. This would put James back in the England squad. He wouldn`t play unless there where injuries to England`s number one and two.

22% think that he should be England`s number two. This is the option I voted for. The number two position enables him to put pressure on Paul Robinson and still have an important role in the England squad.

20% think he should be England`s number one. This would result in Paul Robinson being number two. I think most Pompey fans voted for this one but I recon he has enough talent to be England`s top keeper.

As long as he keeps performing for Pompey I`m happy…

Does seem a bit of a shocker that he's being overlooked by McLaren following his performances so far this season....must be an ageism thing.

Jamo to keep proving them wrong by playing very well for us each week is in Pompeys interest.

He'll not get back in now, McLaren is a t****r! He can't see further than the top 4 or 5 clubs in the country (or his favourite Downing!) and constantly contradicts himself by his claims of "people get picked on current form" and "so long as they play, and play well they are in". So many of the latest squad aren't even playing at the moment let a lone playing well, many of those that are playing are by no means playing well! You have people like Sol and Jamo playing well almost week in week out, Kevin Nolan's doing a job at Bolton, Joey Barton's not doing too bad a job at City is he either. Ben Foster made a couple of errors the other night, good keeper but better than James I don't think so. If Robinson gets injured we're screwed as you never know when Kirkland will get injured again and could Foster cope with the pressure of England? I hope he doesn't from an Englishman's point of view but McLaren will get found out against the "big boys" and maybe his decisions to shut the door on people will back fire on him. Pompey will benefit though so as frustrating as it is it is a bonus in a way I guess...

David James is the worst goalkeeper in England's history. He's had his chances and blown them every time - why risk him again? Knock it on the head mate, you're 36 and you play for Pompey for ****'s sake.

We know Danny you want to stay!

In case we had forgot Hollands has reminded us of his desire to stay with Pompey! I'm not 'desperate' either way in many ways but sorting this quickly would be best for all concerned.

Three more pre-season games announced

'Glamour ties' are loved but pre-season is about fitness and form so it doesn't matter if it's Barcelona or Bognor... Then again a trip to the Nou Camp wouldn't be turned down!

Sheffield United loanee open to Pompey return

McNulty would welcome a permanent transfer to Pompey. Although the Sheffield United striker could well be part of new manager Wilder's plans, so the chances seem 50:50 at best?
