Fernandes and Johnson Staying!

Fernandes and Johnson Staying!

Harry has told worried Pompey Fans that Fernandes will sign for Portsmouth after completing a certain amount of games.

Harry said;

'I think the permanent deal clicks in for us when Fernandes plays a few more games,' said Redknapp.

'I think he plays X amount of games and then we take up the option to buy him. As far as I know it is a tied-up deal.'

'Fernandes is a fantastic player and sooner or later he is going to have to play for us."

'Although he has been out a long time with his injury, people know him here in this country.

'He played in the Champions League for Benfica last season at Old Trafford and people from there certainly know about him.

'But we are hoping he will become a top, top player for us and I'm convinced that will happen.'

I have also read a rumour today that Man United will sign Glen Johnson in January, get lost! Glen Johnson has an option at the end of his loan deal with Portsmouth to sign on a permanent basis, although the player is thought to be keen on returning to Chelsea.

If Glen has a good season with us then expect Utd to start sniffing. We would need to make sure Glen wants to stay for the club and not the money. If he wants the money then let him go back to Chelsea or Utd. Can't see Chelsea doing business with United though.

Sign Ferdy asap & GJ in January. As nelson said, why would Chelski want Manc cash.

Not only that if GJ went in January we would then have Griffin back as RB, God help us.

On his performance on Sunday United can have him! Everyone has an off day, Johnson has just had a bad couple, although generally he has looked good for us. I saw the article referencing United with a move to Johnson, which must be crap as the same article also said "he'd been included in Steve McLaren's latest England sqaud!" I missed that call up... If I had to choose between tying Fernandes or Johnson to the club, although we may be short of cover I'd want Fernandes tied to a long term deal any day...

pompeyrug, perhapse im not going to the same games as you. GJ is clearly a class above anyone else we have in that position. At the spurs game he was left continually exposed as the central two were being pulled around due to Sol's loss of temperament. Dejan was continually turned and they were pushing ball's over where GJ was trying to defend against two. Cant agree with you on this one. But i queried the loan of GJ at the begining of the season and still do as we will have to find a replacement.

On this day in history...30th May

A look back at this day in history, and what was happening with Pompey courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, 30th May.

No Crawley return for Tubbs

Tubbs doesn't have a future at Pompey, he's on the transfer-list but offloading him could be difficult given his wages. These wouldn't be anywhere within Crawley's reach.

Pitfalls of Sheffield Wednesday loanee returning

As Catlin put it 'the gamble' of aiming sign Sheffield Wednesday loanee Lavery has to be one Pompey fans understand. It isn't as cut and dried as saying 'he's a free agent' sign him!

Lassie coming home...well sort of!

A-box-to-box player, capable of defensive duties, with ability to burst forward with intent to make things happen - Diarra is Pompey's man and wants an England return. I jest of course!
