Zokora: What Football Fans Said

As far as I`m concerned this is the last article on Zokora and his disgusting dive. Bellow are comments made by Vital Football readers about the "incident."

what a terrible dive, too much of it happening in the game and it's not just the foreigners some of the worst offenders are Rooney and Gerrard supposed hard men!!!dazza71

It shouldn't be a situation where discissions even themselves out over a season. The people at the top of the sport should ask themselves why incorrect discissions are made each weekend. This week alone Arsenal should of had Van Persie sent off before his two goals against Charlton. The Liverpool keeper was ajudged to of handled the ball outside the area and the linesman even tried getting himself back into the correct position to argue with the keeper, and then we have Spurs Zokora diving in the area claiming Pedro had taken his feet from under him. The FA should maybe start looking into why these errors are being made so often or atleast start looking into the camera at video evidence. Maybe the BBC could do a documenatry on referee's taking a bung. nelson

I have seen the replay and you have every right to be *****ed off!!! It was a shocking piece of play and I hope he gets banned for unsporting behaviuor. I know it wont help you but they little ***** should be taught a lesson.simmy8_2000

Am Gutted, Push For First Dive For Second! We Were Cheated! Ridgey

I have been saying for months now that we have the best League in the world and the worst set of Referees I have ever seen. alphieblues

Spurs fan - I was at the game as well and when i saw it I like the ref thought it was a penalty...obviously wrong. Its hard when you see something like that, i hate divers and he shouldn't have done it. Sorry guys, I hope the bad descisons get even out for you at the end of the season. It was a good game though, and thought we desereved the win we had loads more chances. I think pompey look like they need some firepower up front, two chances in a match isn't going to get you any points. KingNicholls

i hope Zokora plays at fratton park, by the way i was at the game watching from a box at the half way line and the sours fans i was with thought your man would get a booking. Furthermore and chatting to Martin Peters in the 1st floor box bar after the game, even he said it was a terible decision and that justice had not been done. REALITY CHECK you won by cheating and that north east london eye site problem seems to have got to you all. russellm

No proper fan in the English league wants to see cheating in our game. Players cheating for penalties also cheats the paying fan. I certainly don't want to pay for my season ticket only to watch players diving in the box. We all want to see goals, but fair goals. A free flowing match when you don't notice the ref is a good game but how many times does this happen.nelson

He did not dive he was off balance and did not mean it brett.spurs

Of course it werent a penalty. Mendes did him like a kipper. He made to swing his leg and didnt follow through. Zakora was going down to make the most of expected contact that never arrived. He didnt apeal for the penalty initially cause I think he half expected to get booked. He should not then have celebrated so heartily. The only thing I cant understand is why all the fuss now when Pires, Ronaldo, Gerrard and many others have been doing it for years. Stil thought we created all the chances even without the possession jollyjolsbaldhead

How can anyone think it wasnt a dive? I thought he had been shot! jono_forest

If that's not the most blatent dive ever....... 1-0 up, you might not of recoverd... wallis

boo hoo, why have a go at me i didnt blow the whistle and give a penalty, i said he dived, what else do ya want me to say, i want pompy to do well, but i was just saying you win some, you lose some. brett.spurs

Unbelievable! How anyone can think he didn't dive I don't know? I'd be ashamed if a Pompey player so clearly dived like that to win a penalty against us. I know it happens to a lot of sides but we've had our fair share of dodgy penalties against us over the years haven't we? Pires dived for Arsenal the year they won the title, Taylor got the 'hand ball' call against Scum in the cup, O'Neil got the handball called against Spurs last season, and of course Sunday's to name but a few. Zokora has done himself no favours at all, and not just with Pompey fans. pompeyrug

Of course he dived, and of course there should not have been a penalty, but if there was video technology available to the match officials non of this would have happened, but there is'nt so you will have to put up with it, I love Harry Rednapp for what he has acheived with you guys but he is being very hipicritical when he complains about this as if it was him that had the penalty he would now be saying 'it evens itself out in the end' so accept it and move on! Cravens

As I said at the start of the article, let this be the end of it until he visits Fratton in January.

His welcome wouldn't be quite as interesting as the one that Thatcher would receive (although you imagine Pearce would have the common sense to leave him at home).

we cant let our season get hung up on this and need to move on, we just need to make sure they get the same sort of reception at ours. Judging from my spelling i was pretty angry at the time. Its good to see that fans all over the country have the same view. and if you go to vital spurs most of them think brett.spurs is some times a *****

We just have to move on now, we've all had our say, nothing we can do to change it is there. Just got to hope the powers that be have the balls to bring in some kind of new legislation to punish these cheaters after the event. I know it won't alter what has happened but if they get suspended as a result, not fined, a money punishment won't harm the modern day players (they'd just have to make do on quail eggs for a week instead of something grander!) being out of the team and maybe having to fight their way back in would hurt them more! This won't happen though I doubt until a World Cup, European Championship or Champions League is won as a result of cheating, just see how quickly UEFA and FIFA would intervien then...

No More Quarter Final Replays For Pompey

Should Portsmouth progress through to an FA Cup quarter final from the 2016/17 season onwards, the game will no longer be subject to a replay.

On this day in history...27th May

A look back at this day in history, and what was happening with Pompey courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, 27th May.

Chesterfield's O'Shea targeted

Although so far Pompey have had two bids turned down for Chesterfield's O'Shea. Will, assuming another bid (as it's expected) is made, it be third time luck for the Blues?

It wasn't Real Madrid but Bristol City isn't bad!

Contrary to what I just wrote (muppet that I am) this isn't at Fratton this is at Ashton Gate with Pompey heading to Bristol City on Saturday 30th July, with a 3pm kick-off.
