Fans Excited About Kranjcar

Niko Kranjcar has won a poll on Vital Pompey, becoming the player most Pompey fans are looking forward to seeing.

Poll Results

Kranjcar 84%
Fernandes 10%
Cole 4%
Douala 2%

Niko Kranjcar was born August 13, 1984 in Vienna, Austria.

Kranjčar has been part of the Croatian national Under-16, -17, -19 and -21 teams before advancing to the national team of which he is currently part of.

His manager has said, 'Kranjcar has a great feeling for the ball and great understanding of the game. Few players in the world have that virtue'.

Kranjcar spent most of his youth playing for Dinamo Zagreb, later as a captain, but then in early 2005, after a disagreement with the management, made a surprise transfer to Dinamo's biggest rival, Hajduk.

His transfer was probably the biggest sport news of the year in Croatia. Niko was chosen for 'Young gun firing for World Cup glory' along with some of the greatest talents in the world such as Leo Messi, Lukas Podolski and Muntari.

In August 2006 Kranjcar has been linked with a move to Rennes for 2.5 million pounds, Hajduk has rejected that offer and now Portsmouth will complete a deal for the player (3.5 million)

The player has scored 30 goals from 124 appearances from midfield

He has made 24 appearances for Croatia scoring 3 goals

Not a prolific goalscorer but there is obviously more depth to this young talented man as a provider. Hope he fits in well and that Harry doesn't rush him into the 'front line' too soon. He could have a very bright future as we sell him for 20M to Chelsea.

It'll be interesting to see how he settles in and if he will take Taylor's spot on the left ???

Taylor will keep his place in the side until Kranjcar or anyone shines more, but you might find if stefanovic isn't playing well he'll move matty to left back or possibly if Johnson gets injured again, linvoy might move to right back and harry we'll play campbell along side dejan and move matty to left back, and if campbell or linvoy get injured, matty will move to left back and dejan will play at centre half!

I was laying in bed this morning thinking about Matty Taylor losing his place in the team and it terrified me! I'm a HUGE fan of Matty's and hope that he can stay in the team, if it means Dejan missing out all together so be it...

Bit scary that poll result. That's the kind of numbers I'd expect to see come out of croatia poll .His every move was under scrutiny in croatia which put him under huge pressure .If he had one bad game the knives were drawn.I just hope he settles in before trying to take on teams by himself just to live up to these expectations.I think in the WC he was just a shadow of his true ability, not sure why but he didn't take the defences on like he did in qualifying.Extra pressure?? Not sure but he's a confidence player so he'll want to start well .But I do believe he's the best talent since the team of 98.Up to that class no question but that was a team of players in their late 20's and early 30's so he has plenty of time on his side.Still, he's been bought on what he's shown already and he'll have to find his feet quickly.I would like to point out that the premiership almost ruined Bosko Balaban. Before he came to England he looked a superb talent. An absolute goal machine back home and a hat-trick for Croatia in one of his first games for the national side.He then went to villa as we all know and was awful and it almost ended his career. But he simply wasn't suited to the pace of the game nor was he given the chance to find his feet if I remember right.Didn't produce in the first few games and was a bench warmer for the remainder of his career in england.I know he had the skills cause I saw him score some amazing goals and he went to belguim and was top scorer in the league first season I think. My point being that Niko is the most talented player croatia has produced ,possibly ever, but the prem is a killer league.Give him time and he'll be a star player. He 'll have to force his way into a decent side too, wicked midfield. If I didn't know better I'd think this team was built to play in european competition. It looks like a rotation policy may be needed.
