Kanu man of the month! Not my view yours... Asked in the latest poll who is your Pompey man of the month for August, 53% of you in fact voted this way.
Kanu has been absolutely superb since his arrival and not just because of his four goals in two and a bit games, his all round team play and partnership with Benjani have been fantastic.
Without wanting to appear too much of a "told you so" and despite myself admitting that Kanu may not have been my first choice pick I did think that he would prove a good signing, especially with a manager who has a history of getting the best out of people. I would also say this in an article I wrote on the day he signed
"We would have liked a striker who would score at least 15 goals a season and although not the most prolific, his time with West Brom, where he never really enjoyed an extended run in the team if we are fair, and his nightmare spell with Inter aside, where it was found he had a serious heart defect, he has averaged a goal nearly every other game"
"An extended run in the side and who knows what might happen for Kanu."
An extended run, albeit only two starts and one substitute appearance is seeing it so far happen for the Nigerian.
We are already beginning to think his signing could be another inspired Harry Redknapp dealing, and should his goals and performances continue then picking him up for nothing will without question prove to be a master stroke indeed.
To sum up the Polls results
53% Kanu
19% Campbell
And the remaining 28% Linvoy
Had Kanu not been around then Linvoy, a player not used to playing for Pompey this early into a season (who I have to admit I voted for us defenders stick together!) would almost certainly have scooped the award as he has been the pick of a great bunch of defenders, not forgetting Jamo in goal.
Campbell had a debut out of this world and despite continuing to play well and marshal the defence in my opinion if you didn`t know differently you would think it was Linvoy with over 50 International caps.
