Strange or sensible move?

Strange or sensible move?

I cannot make up my mind if the talk from Appy about 'sending players out on loan' is a strange decision, or a sensible one?

Yep, I get the point that you want players to play and without any 'proper' ressie team some struggle with this, you can never beat 1st team football at whatever level though I suppose. Although at the same time with such a small squad, and at times games calling out for a change, not using some more than we are is slightly odd to me...

Could the likes of Liam Walker, Josh Thompson and Jack Compton benefit from spending a month away?

Arguably so...But then we decrease our own, limited, already numbers as a result.

Sure, we bring other players in on loan but what we also have to remember is we can only feature 5, or is it 6, in a matchday squad and we must already be doing this with 3 or 4 players at least?

I am not sure what sort of message this also sends to these players?

Could they decide that they are not wanted and, assuming they enjoy the club that they join on loan, then be the one they opt for - January is not far away, once that arrives they will be free to join whoever they want...

I know Appy sees these guys regularly, and I get that he was just 'semi pro' until recently, but I must say that I have been quite impressed with Walker so have been disappointed that he has not been given more of a chance.

So long as Appy does not start 'bemoaning' the fact he has so few players then I guess it has to remain 'in Appy we trust' whatever he decides and he has to continue to work to a short-term plan, as a long-term vision still isn't something he can do, yet...

I like Liam Walker, thought he showed real promise. He hasn't featured even as a sub for so long now, maybe Mr Appleton has changed his mind about him.

i think it is 'probably' what is being said in the forum, some of these are in a more 'long-term' thinking but at the moment he is thinking more 'short-term', as that is all he can do, so would sooner bring in players that can be in his thoughts 'now' as that is where we are currently?
