Meanest Defence In England

OK, maybe my claim of Pompey having the "meanest defence in England" is a little extreme and maybe misleading but we are the only team in the Premiership yet to concede a goal thus far.

Pompey's three clean sheets in as many games leaves us with the best defensive record not only in the Premiership, but in the whole of England. No other club in England, and only one team in Scotland, Scottish Division Two leaders Morten, can boast the record of not conceding a goal so far this season. Granted most other clubs in England and Scotland at a lower level than the Premiership have played more games but still let's bask in the glory...

We had not kept three back to back clean sheets in almost 50 years before now, the last time we had achieved this was in 1957. Records are there to be broken so let`s keep the run going, starting with another win on Saturday against Wigan. I'll say this much if we keep another clean sheet we'll win that game as we WILL without doubt score at least once and you can take that to the bank.

As if not conceding goals wasn't good enough only Manchester United with 10 goals have scored more goals than Pompey, with us netting 7 times so far this season, all of which satisfyingly enough have come from our strikers!

All good things come to an end and as sure as the day is long as much as we would all hope not to see it happen Pompey will eventually concede a goal, and yes, sad as it is sooner or later (but hopefully later!) lose a game but for the time being we can take comfort in the fact that Title contenders Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have all conceded more gaols than we have, with only United scoring more!
