Latest 'star' trialists arrive, for keeps?

Latest 'star' trialists arrive, for keeps?

It seems odd to talk footballing matters, but for once we can with areas potentially that could have an impact on those on the pitch are something that have dominated events in the past 24-hours or so...

On Thursday it broke that Luis Boa Morte and Akos Buzsaky were training with Pompey.

Reports go as far as saying that Boa Morte is actually 'on trial' with the club...

The 35-year-old former Arsenal, (sadly) Scummer, Fulham and West Ham forward has spent the past couple of years in Greece, America and one other country, which escapes me at the moment, but is being looked at.

Possibly more interesting is the fact that Buzsaky, who left QPR in the summer having played fairly frequently for them last season, is 'training' with us.

Although, as his agent Filipovic Vladan told Hungarian nso.hu, it has been stressed this is only training: 'he's training at Portsmouth in order to get into better form.'

In all honesty, former Scummer or not in Boa Morte's case, if they are affordable can we really be too choosy as to who we do, or do not, want - so if we could afford them then both arriving would be good.

I would be particularly interested to see Buzsaky arrive, although I would think the 30-year-old Hungarian international is the least likely of the two to do so...

Appy hopes to see two new arrivals come in before the weekend, if one of these will be among them only time will tell!

Another one that will definitely miss out this weekend, and perhaps see his time with Pompey end, is Josh Thompson.

He injured his ankle in training so he is facing 6-weeks out, which you would think will mean his monthly contracts will not be renewed when the latest ends, at least until he is fit to return again?

Football talk, bliss. Met Pompey fan at Crayford(Kent) Station this morning at half six, no mention of football or players, we just talked about the club. So sad.

I think Josh will get better on he is settled in and he gave up a contract with celtc to get his football going down here so I would like to see the club stick by him if they can. Buzsaky would be a real find in this league but he will want way too much money I expect, shame, we have missed that guileful player at pompey.

From the News - Pompey are hopeful of securing a deal to bring in Bournemouth striker Wes Thomas. Michael Appleton is expected to land Thomas on a month’s loan in time to feature against Scunthorpe tomorrow. Pompey have up until three hours before kick-off to complete the move for the 25-year-old and allow him to play. The Blues are also keen on signing midfielder Akos Buzsaky, who has been training with the club along with Luis Boa Morte. They couldn’t complete a deal for the former QPR man by today’s midday deadline to land permanent recruits, however.

My understanding is the only one likely to sign is Bournemouth's non scoring striker

Third time lucky? Nope as O'Shea interest ends

O'Shea saw a couple of bids for him put in; these were turned down by Chesterfield. A third bid hasn't come from Pompey and it isn't going to either.

Topping last seasons tally the aim

78pts was only enough for a play-off place last season so you suspect we'll have to better that for a top 3 finish this coming season, which begins with Carlisle at Fratton.
