Whilst I appreciate that various areas of business work in an 'anonymous' basis, with the backers of these companies unknown to many, Portsmouth Football Club is not like any 'normal business'...

The recent history is littered with nameless, sometimes faceless and very anonymous people so the latest Middle East interest has, for me, got off to a PR nightmare!

Announcing an interest as anonymous bidders is surely the last thing that any serious bidder for this football club wants, have these people - well person, as it seems almost 100% certain who this front man is - learnt nothing from recent times?

Transparency is the name of the game here surely - then again I am sure that people can, and will, argue that both Chainrai and The PST are not always showing the greatest amount of this either!

No matter how credible a bid this is launching it in such a way will, whatever anyone says, leaves far too many - and surely understandably - questioning this. That is putting aside the questioning of exactly what would any serious bidder (apart from the one looking to recoup his money and the one being put together by the fans to save their club) see in Portsmouth Football Club?!

How many 'Arabian Pompey fans' can there be in the Middle East?

You would not have thought too many!

The (sometimes) cryptic messages that SAF is sending out tend to imply that it is he that is leading this bid, is at least part of it - which I believe he acknowledges anyway?

For him to brand the BBC 'unprofessional' is, lets be honest, somewhat rich (no negative pun of any kind against SAF intended!) isn't it though!

Another PR nightmare is surely, if this Middle East bid is not from SAF (highly doubtful!), having a man with such a bizarre Pompey past acting as a 'spokesman' for you quite often via his Twitter account or on Arabian Business News, apparently run by a close friend of his anyway!

If SAF, and his mates - if mates are involves, can genuinely put forward a serious bid that will be done with the best interests of the club at heart, being put together, planned and run in the correct manor, and is not a harebrained scheme based on a ludicrous dream - again, to be fair, some would think this of The PST's bids - then bring it on.

History tends to suggest that it is highly unlikely that a realistically sustainable proposal, that would not levy further debt against PFC, is possible as the guy, as well intended as he might have been is very much a 'dreamer'...

As said you can argue that we have not always had the transparency or clarity from The PST's bid that you might have wanted, and this is also viewed as a dream by many, but I cannot help but think - as much as I appreciate a grand is a lot of money - had we managed to gain a genuine greater interest from the fans then Pompey could already have been under a fans owned, and run, model to give us the stability and longevity that is needed.

The latest deadline is Friday, will this now see this Middle East bid do enough to convince Trevor Birch that this is the one to run with for the creditors, will he decide between one of the other two on the table, will he call time altogether or will yet another deadline be set?

My betting is - and always has been even before this 'latest interest' - that yet another deadline, from the boy who cried wolf, will be set...

Gotta say that SAF with PST involvement would be my favourite bid IF SAF has got the liquidity this time!!

"the guy, as well intended as he might have been is very much a 'dreamer'..." Rug I think you're being kind to him - he's a likeable, wealthy 'nutter'. imho!

I agree with you Rug - PST is based on a load of unknowns, as is Chan's and SAF's - although he has since denied its him who is the finance. If "show me the money" gets a response TB has no real option but to delay. It's also worth noting TB and MA are talking about extending the players contract - so some funding must be coming from somewhere.

Another loan for Oxlade-Chamberlain

As I think we all know by now Oxlade-Chamberlain is the son of former Pompey winger Mark Chamberlain and the brother of Arsenal's & England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Cook - Notts County another tough game

Pompey's form at Fratton has been impressive this season with our home return coming against Notts County off the back of wins at Leyton Orient and a point at Plymouth last Saturday.
