Gyepes arrives

Gyepes arrives

Another defender has arrived to help strengthen our central defence, and of course bring in a little experience too.

This defender was Gabor Gyepes.

Gyepes should be well known to Pompey fans, in name at least, as he spent some time training with Pompey last season but nothing came of it - until now...

The 31-year-old Hungarian international free agent has joined Pompey on the traditional '1-month deal' basis for now.

Appy had this to say following his arrival: 'We have got a couple of young centre-backs in Kevin Long and Josh Thompson, so Gabor adds a bit of experience in that area.

'He's played for a few clubs in England before so knows what to expect and we're pleased to be able to add him to our squad.'

Welcome (eventually) to Pompey Gabor!

Thought he was pretty good before going off - if he's out for the rest of his month's contract do we still pay him? do we have insurance for this eventuality? Are we likely to renew his month's contract?

Pompey Predictions League - update #2

The Pompey Predictions League is part of this site now isn't it. Would it be the same without? This continued with a defeat at Oxford with a visit from Walsall next.

The Walsall Low Down

Walsall's away record makes good reading for Pompey, who need to pick themselves up after last Saturday's defeat at Oxford.

Playing to Lowe's strengths

Lowe looked good when he came on against Rochdale but his sending off resulted in a ban - this suspension didn't apply to the Checkatrade Trophy when he scored two against Fulham.

Food for thought after Fulham

A sparse crowd was treated to a six goal thriller as Pompey and Fulham played out a 3-3 draw. The Blues missed the chance of a bonus point when losing the penalty shootout 4-3.
