'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Is that fear I smell...

It is not usually the whiff that is around when Balram Chainrai is but I sense that could well be what he, and Portpin, are suffering at the moment - 'fear'.

Yesterday they (Portpin/Chainrai) responded to the plea from MP's for them to deal with The PST, and allow their bid to be successful, by disputing the funds in place for The Trust - as much as I hate to say it when you are based on money pledged it is understandable to question what is available - and also questioning if The PST is actually in the best interests of Pompey!

Is the 'dream' of Pompey being owned by its fans something that could be moving closer to fruition and as such Chainrai is becoming 'worried' that he will have to take a hit on what he is 'owed'...

The developments today with a local businessman prepared to buy Fratton Park - and the land around it? - before leasing it back to the club does give this bid a massive boost!

In an ideal world the ground, and the land around it, would be owned exclusively by the club but you would just have to hope that this businessman - as you would expect - is a genuine Pompey fan and wants what is best in our interests, hence this proposal.

Yep, there is still 'the small issue' of the 8m to football creditors being dropped to 2, as per The Trust bid, but this development could give a little this bid a little more room to manoeuvre with what is offered.

The thought that Chainrai cannot be 'forced' to accept less than what he wants for his charge on Fratton Park is there but Trevor Birch, who according to The News 'favours' The Trust bid, can pretty much do that and if this compromise is not taken then it will be taken to the courts to decide.

I am not convinced we will get a decision today, but today or Monday will almost certainly be 'D-Day' (number god only knows what!) and methinks that Chainrai is not sitting as smuggling as he previously was with his recent thoughts quite possibly coming about out of worry that he is not going to be able to waltz back into the Fratton boardroom as easily as he thought...
