Kranjcar Info/Video- Looks Good!

Nicola Kranjcar is six foot one and is set to sign for Portsmouth. There seems to be some confusion where he actually plays but Pompey will have signed another midfielder!

He is twenty-two years old and sky sports have reported previously that he would sign for Celta, that deal fell through however. Wigan where also supposed to be interested in the Hajduk Split midfielder.

Below is "JadrenSport`s" view on the player

Twenty-one year old Niko (Nicola) Kranjcar is rightfully recognized as one of the greatest Croatian talents that emerged after the end of Former Yugoslavia.

For five seasons, how long his career is ongoing, Kranjcar has made an impressive performance in the ranks of both 1.HNL giants, Dinamo and Hajduk. Great passes, fine technique and some fierce shooting abilities, quickly turned Kranjcar from a ''kid with great potential'' to Dinamo Zagreb's leading star, as soon as in 2001 when he was just a 16-year-old teenager.

The player is used to the spotlight, Hajduk Split is one of the top clubs in Croatia and there ground holds 35,000 people. They won the legue in 2004/2005 season, which was Kranjcar`s first season at the club.

Kranjcar Carrer

Niko Kranjcar was born August 13, 1984 in Vienna, Austria.

Kranjčar has been part of the Croatian national Under-16, -17, -19 and -21 teams before advancing to the national team of which he is currently part of.

His manager has said, 'Kranjcar has a great feeling for the ball and great understanding of the game. Few players in the world have that virtue'.

Kranjcar spent most of his youth playing for Dinamo Zagreb, later as a captain, but then in early 2005, after a disagreement with the management, made a surprise transfer to Dinamo's biggest rival, Hajduk.

His transfer was probably the biggest sport news of the year in Croatia. Niko was chosen for 'Young gun firing for World Cup glory' along with some of the greatest talents in the world such as Leo Messi, Lukas Podolski and Muntari.

In August 2006 Kranjcar has been linked with a move to Rennes for 2.5 million pounds, Hajduk has rejected that offer and now Portsmouth will complete a deal for the player (3.5 million)

The player has scored 30 goals from 124 appearnces from midfield

He has made 24 apearnces for Croatia scoring 3 goals

yep paul from the vid i have seen he is not a defensive midfielder, the move ot hadjuk was prompted by his father then national team coach. Hope he's not a Boksic becuase from the you tube clip young Krunchy seems to be one for the very near future.

Kranjcar is right-footed, but plays equally well with his left foot. He was a leftsided midfielder in his previous club.

well perhapse EddieO you need to tell them because according to sky some 10 minutes ago Tevez seems to think he is. He reckons his corinthians mate is joining as well. Some times robber baron clubs offer too little money, or prefer to let other clubs blood them into the PL., we have to accept this is possibly what might happen to us with Fernandes. XmirrorboyX me too for some thirty plus years so i know where you are coming from. Still great times though, knowing that your team wont be sold out for a crazed basketball dream, or go bankrupt anytime soon, or be rippred off by a man who will then become an asistant England manager DOH !!

Like the vid of NK. I'd sign him in that evidence. As for Douala, he's big, black & fast. Just like HR likes them. But good sakes break the bank & get Defoe. He's 4th ******* choice at Spurs.

Staoragematt i'd prefer quality defensive cover but rumours all over the place that defoe and spurs are discussing and Toddy going out on loan, but lets be honest those same rumours have been doing the rounds for months. My heart would love him here but the head asks why would we buy another striker we currently have 5 and Toddy is a natural finisher, having said that redknapp has been putting an 8 Mill figure on Benjani this week, reassuring or touting, we'll probably never know.

I believe we now have the squad we needed. It will undoubtedly lead to selection problems for Harry but that is a healthy postion to be in. It no longer has the look of a relegation battler but more of one pushing for the top half of the table. I would definitely settle for the middle of the table this time around and build on that for the future. Dreaming about Europe could be a little premature but if you look back to 2001 we have come a long long way. Milan and Co. have done the business and put smiles on Pompey fans faces. You can't ask for much more than that....well perhaps a cup.

Shame to see Toddy leave on loan, whether until the end of December or the end of the season - wouldn't have been fair if the lad was fifth choice and rarely got a game though.

He looks a good player. I'm gutted about Toddy. What was HR thinking? I would prefer Toddy to Andy Cole any day of the week.

Whilst i am not aginst cole coming because he has turned in to a hard worker i thinkTantona your comment is a moot point. Lets assume Benji and Kanu are first starts, why wouldnt Todorov come off the bench for a game, he's managed it twice this year and got two goals, and managed 5 times at the end of last season and got a few then as well. Toddy is generally regarded as a natural finisher, no more prone to injury than Andy Cole, less temperamental and certainly has a better goals against shots ratio than :-/ DONT CALL ME ANDY! andrew cole. 35 or 40k a week is a lot for a 34 year old who has knee problems, and we hope we dont have to use. Anyway he is here hopefully to prove us all wrong and he'll get my support doing that... 10 goals maybe.

01/09/2006 16:29:00

All the same Russ, if Toddy stayed and Douala gets to feature up front as well, it would be a hell of a challenge for Arry to rotate the players and keep them all happy. Hats off to Toddy for how he's started the season and indeed took his goals well, but I can't help thinking that he would still have been near the bottom of the 'striker pecking order'. I am in no way questioning his fantastic commitment to Pompey or his goalscoring ratio, just don't think he'd have been selected to start above the other four that often (or five if Douala plays up front as well as on the wing).

Im just not seeing Cole as 20k a week better than Toddy, secondly why would we be playing Doula up front, he is an out and out winger. I have been asking in france where Cameroon football is fairly big and my son has been translating for me and i couldnt find an article detailing when and where he played up front, and they say he is not a prolific goal scorer. he is an opportunity creator. He is more likely to be right wing or competition for Taylor. As i have said ive eaten humble pie over Kanu and might have to do it again but no one yet has been able to explain to me where the advantage is in having Cole against Todorov, apart from as stated on SSN "Harry has always admired Cole from his days at the Boelyn ground". If my memory serves and it frequently doesnt Tantona wasnt it you who said he gets 50% of his signings right?

At the end of the day if Toddy gets 15 for Wigan we can always get him back! why not take a chance on Cole? hes a great playmaker & is another player with great experiance. I am so happy with Harrys work over this transfer period, I gotta be honest though, I was bricking it (standard pompey fan stuff!) a week ago thinkin we wernt gonna get anyone else!. But what a team, we got experiance, youth, flair, hard workers & the pure genius of harry has only picked players that want to prove themselves so we should be getting 100% out of all of them! Well done Arry,Milan & Mr G!

But at the same time, I agree with u Russellm, Toddy was lookin good so far, I find it hard to see him go after all he has done for us, u would have thought he earned a chance over the past season to have a real go this season! I guess Cole has played at a higher level though what with all the champs leaugue etc. I guess the key thing here is that its just a loan! (-:

Im not starting the bring Toddy back club but the simple reality is,... Wigan are likely to be in the same mid tabler battle as us therefore if gets 10 or 15 goals this season we are likely to be one of the teams negatively affected. I dont believe the loan story is anything than a sop to us the faithfull because if Pompey were not intending it to be permanent HR would have sent him to a championship club and not have loaned him to a club where he can damage us. I understand why HR is happy with the squad, with what we've got now it should be a top ten maybe 8th squad. DJ said on sky we should be pushing for UEFA, to do that we need a bit more in january. Personally I would rather have seen the manager spend the resources used on Cole to get defensive back up. One of the criticisms of TA in holland is that he wouldnt stand his ground, well i hope he gets over that here cos we all know HR is not defensively minded. We have a good base in the club now and the back room staff signings are starting to pay off. Things are definetly looking up, so much so that im here now more intrested in Pompey than England v Andorra. by the way old boy crouchy after 4 mins
