The votes had been cast; these numbers toted up with it decided among the Vital Pompey fraternity that Liam Walker was the man of the match against Colchester.
It was yet another quality game involving Pompey, with Colchester manager John Ward saying it was a 'good advert' for league one football - I would agree!
Rose tints perhaps - but I would like to think not - but some of out football at times was exceptional. The quick one-touch passing and move game we played, especially in the 2nd half, was brilliant and the best I have seen from Pompey in a long time.
We are getting fitter and stronger with a team cohesion also growing. 'If' this side can be kept together and we keep growing we will have a good season and cause many a side a problem or two.
All-in-all I think Walker probably was just about the standout player.
It was when he moved into a central role that he really shone though, he was good before but that just gave him a greater influence over the game. His through-ball for the Rodgers goal was cracking though with him pulling off at least one more similar, and coming close with others.
Others were perhaps a little unfortunate not to get more of the vote though, but hey ho...
Have we managed to pluck a diamond from out of nowhere here...well lets hope so!
