hi paul, success for 2 signings but i fear the appiah deal is off as ghanaweb.com have just said fenerbahce cant replace him in such short time! DOH! he would be an amazing signing. dont get me wrong, niko and andy will be good too... but hang on, that means that the bulk of our squad will be players that other teams have heard of! LOL

Ive not seen tooo much of Zigic but some digging reveals he had a solid-ish World Cup but his consistency has been called into question. We need to shore up our defence and also require a goal scoring midfielder so is he meant to be a jack of all trades, because what we need is some masters. It does seem to me a little like Pompey have tried to do things on the cheap again doesnt it Les?

Niko Kranjcar (pronounced Krun-char) is an attacking midfielder who can also play in the hole. I don't know where these defender stories have come from. He's a playmaker with a great eye for a pass, and got a decent shot on him too. Bags of talent and potential - let's hope he can hack the Prem.

yep les ive got me pessimist hat on and thats just where i am going with this. 6.5 mill for petrov, celtic said" pompey playing with figures and the offer is no where near that asked". 14 mill for jermaine defoe, spurs said "nothing like that offered" and we left it "too late for Appiah deal" ( do you remember when the club "forgot to send a fax") the list gores on. Im delighted to have Fernandes, but i have two concerns, 1, its a loan deal so will we end up with another D'Al situation and 2, you dont knock 4 mill off a player for a slightly complicated groin strain not without the original seller have a large percentage of the sell on price. My guess is the "30 Mill" is coming but is stage payable over a longer period, this is not uncommon in deals. & 35000 a week for 34 year old Cole, for that money he better score a cole goal every game.

steveC thanks for the link, pedalo has a point i watched the youtube vid and he doesnt look like a defensive midfielder, in fact quite the opposite. I hope he can hack it and is not a Boksic but he does look like one for the future.
