There had been much talk about Jordan Obita joining Pompey on loan, although confirmation of this going through did not officially come - on The Pompey Site - until yesterday afternoon (obviously travelling to the game I could not add anything.)
Well, upon his arrival he had this to say: 'you can learn something from every squad that you play in and there are some fantastic players here.
'I found out about this loan a couple of weeks ago and I'm glad we could get it sorted. I didn't have to think twice - it's Portsmouth. This is a great club.'
It is amazing that for all our trials and tribulations we are still a big draw to many a player with them more than happy to come play for us! In many instances they are happy to wait for this to be possible, as we have found this season so far...
The 18-year-old could not have made a better impact than he did on Tuesday night could he!
Literally on the pitch for 2-minutes, and arguably his first touch - I think he might have had a brief touch by the touchline when he challenged for a ball - saw the winger, who only arrived that day, put the ball into the back of the net to secure us a 2-2 draw at Colchester.
It was an easy chance, the goal was gaping after Luke Rodgers' shot came back off the post, but he could have lost his head and slashed wildly at it but he coolly smashed it into the back of the net and celebrated in front of us as we went nuts!
I have heard very good things about the guy, and whilst little could really be gagged from the few minutes he was on but he scored a goal and that can never be taken away from him. He looks talented enough though, more than happy to run at his man and put the ball into the box and that will do me fine!
He is very highly rated at Reading by all account, so Obita gives us yet another exciting young, skilful, attacking and willing runner on the wing, which suddenly looks such a threatening area for us...
