'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Connolly, Thompson, Andersen and more?

Having gone from 'no players' we cannot stop signing them, or at least being 'linked' with them, and these links give you a slight genuine feeling we could just get them?

Whilst it is good to see these players arrive I would be a liar if I was not giving some thought to the cost at which this was coming - and how right it was...

To be fair, whilst some of the players are at 'their level', arguably slightly above it, I do wonder if others are actually playing below it and if they are paying for £6k per month, as per the budget set down?

With the administrators still in, and the football league 'keeping an eye', we can merely assume that these 1-month deals are on a budget that is realistic so maybe I am worrying about something I should not and ought to actually enjoy the fact we have some players and we could even be competitive!

Anyway, a few other names are being linked...

Sky sports 'sources understand' that former trialist Josh Thompson is going to be signing on loan from Celtic for 6-months?

A loan arrival I could probably see coming off but would a 6-month deal really be sanctioned...

The 21-year-old central defenders arrival will come on Monday apparently as Pompey and Celtic 'could not quite agree a deal in time for Saturday's first game of the season against Bournemouth.'

This was off the back of keeper Mikkel Andersen 'confirming' via his Twitter account that he had joined Pompey on loan from Reading, having previously told the media that he was signing and 'expected' to face The Cherries.

Then there is Leeds fullback Paul Connolly, transfer listed by the club, and he is - according to what The News 'understands' this time - coming in pretty soon, maybe in time for Saturday. Sky is also in on the action here; they say he is coming in on a 'short-term' loan deal.

And this is forgetting the Chelsea youngster Conor Clifford, apparently another one that has had his loan 'confirmed', although not officially!

Connolly, if the 'rumours', are true could well sign in time to make his debut tomorrow as would Andersen if his self-proclaimed thoughts of a signing are officially confirmed.

Yep, I do have those slight worries as expressed at the start of this, but trust has to be put in those allowing these deals to happen - even if previously this trust has been misplaced! - and just looking to enjoy what is happening should be what I do I guess...
