Pompey get the go-ahead at last!

Pompey get the go-ahead at last!

10 players finally put pen to paper after finally being given the green light to do so, all are on monthly contracts, but it is testament to both their loyalty and Michael Appleton's pulling power that they are all still here to sign for us.

Mustapha Dumbuya, Liam Walker, Izale McLeod, Jack Compton, Brian Howard, Kieran Djilali, Luke Rodgers and Jon Harley all signed deals, while Eastwood had his contract converted, Lee Williamson joining the previous trialists.

The players give us a major boost ahead of the league opener on saturday, whilst the kids gave us pride on wednesday, hopefully the new boys will supply the nous!

What we need now, apart from the obvious, is a good start to the season and the fans to return to The Park. That surely, would encourage Birchie, The PST, the City Council, reluctant £100'ers and any billionaires looking for a good cause. Having watched the Bolton match, this team should give Bournemouth a stiff challenge. PUP.

I am pleased to see us get a chance to begin, but I hope Appy looks into the youth squad and fill the bench with these kids, and maybe give them the odd run out.
