An average age of around 18 was what we saw Pompey field at Plymouth in our 3-0 defeat, with all bar two I think it was making their debuts for Pompey, including assistant manager Ashley Westwood who had to go off injured.

Plymouth were never three-nil better than this spirited bunch though and they know they were given a good game by some hungry youngsters that are learning their trade, and will have to continue to learn quickly at that!

I am all for 'youth getting a chance' but not to the extreme that we are having to, but he ho needs must when the devil drives...

No doubt about it we will be relegated playing with these youngsters, and chances are better teams than Plymouth will be faced and they will tear us apart but that pride and passion they showed us last night will be repeated I am sure.

I would guess that it would be soul destroying for these youngsters to be beaten, and soundly, most weeks and might have a detrimental impact on their development - then again it might just go to making them stronger in the future?

In all honesty if you asked me to point out a player if you told me his name I would struggle to do this with many but if we are to be seeing more of them this coming season - if there is 'a coming season?! - then I think we will soon get to know them and they will be given fantastic support!

Like all of us, I have been sick and tired of this off the field stuff but after last night I remembered that we are Pompey and we (have learned to) thrive on adversity and the dislike of other clubs and the media. Given half a chance, I will watch this team for the season, come what may and, like you and most of the others on Vital Pompey, will support them through thick and thin. PUP.

I would so much rather see these spirited youngsters in Pompey shirts playing their hearts and souls for the club, than prima donas like Defoe any day of the week. It was starting to feel difficult to find the enthusiasm as the season gets going, but this is where it is! Well done boys, we're proud of you!

I cried when I read the News last night. Still, if I have to go to Farlington Marshes to watch them play, I will.

PS: And why not? I went there to watch my ex boyfriend play - and what a big fat lardy lump he was.... lol.

Michael Appleton has just been given perission to sign a bunch of players on monthly contracts; I presume the FL have santioned this, otherwise Birch has let us down a bit as it's so close to Saturday. Hopefully this will allow the youngsters to grow into the team slowly.

What do we hope for from the rest of the season?

There seems to be a lot of unhappiness around, despite a pretty decent season in my opinion. Well, certainly our best season in a long while.

Debut delight...kind of!

It wasn't a result, and in many ways a performance, for Sheff United loanee Freeman to remember too fondly as he didn't really have a great game against Orient? Then again who did!

Tubbs has left the building

Tubbs has finally left Pompey; perhaps his destination is something of a surprise then again there had been some 'rumours' recently of an Eastleigh interest.
