Portpin deal to be finalised as Lawro goes

Portpin deal to be finalised as Lawro goes

And then there were none...

It has been confirmed by Trevor Birch, in a statement on The Pompey Site, that Liam Lawrence has 'negotiated a compromise' to move on: 'we have negotiated a compromise agreement with Liam Lawrence, who will leave the club when the paperwork is finalised later today.

'I'd like to thank Liam for his support and all of the other players for putting the club's interest ahead of their own. They have all had to make very difficult decisions and been placed in an impossible position which wasn't of their making.'

Lawro's departure means that we officially now have no senior 1st team players left at the club, not one single body...

I wish the guy the best of luck in the future. He sometimes had a mixed time with the club but pretty much always gave his all and I do not really ask much more than that from anyone that pulls on the Pompey blue!

The result of Lawro leaving means that the conditions of Portpin's takeover have been reached so Birch will 'finalise discussions' with them to takeover, again, ASAP: 'this means that we have now successfully completed agreements with all of the first team squad and met the major condition of the offer from Portpin, which formed the basis for the CVA proposal.

'We will now aim to finalise our discussions with Portpin with a view to completing the sale of the club as soon as possible. The intention is to push this through early next week in order to ensure that player recruitment can begin as quickly as possible for the start of the new season.'

Where does this leave The PST's bid?

Birch says that this is a 'fall-back' option: 'the offer from the Pompey Supporters' Trust remains a fall-back position and we are pleased to note that the Council has agreed to provide a loan facility to support the Trust bid.'

Portpin it is then to become our owners again then, with The PST looking to takeover from them down the line...

Don't understand why PST bid is viewed as a fall back.

Probably TB being kind to them. I don't think they were ever seriously in the frame. Onwards and upwards with BC, PUP.

I think that PST would not be able to move the club forward, as football means money nowadays. Yes we can be owned by the PST, but that would probably mean that we'll have to remain a League One team. PuP. Come on Balu, finalise that deal and let Appy work it out.

Message to the legue:- Relax the transfer ban with immediate effect, sure we have been naughty but don't condem us to division 2 now the blood will be on your hands not PFC's

PFCBlue - did you mean to put so much irony in the statement 'onwards and upwards with BC'?!

After being very sceptical about the PST offer l find myself being quite disappointed that Chanrai will be taking ownership of the club now. Now don't get me wrong, Channers is better than liquidation but I tire of his single minded pursuit of 'his' 18 million with football being an unwanted afterthought. I hope chanrai and birch didn't see us coming.

MotM in poor Notts County show...Cambridge next

There wasn't too much to cheer from the Notts County defeat was there, well certainly not the 2nd half at Fratton Park but one plus was seen as Amine Linganzi for Pompey.

Double figure aim for Baker

Goals are in the game of Baker; we've seen this already as the midfielder has scored four for Pompey since his arrival from MK Dons in the summer. His aim is at least 10-goals.
