'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Judgement day?!

How many times in recent history have we been faced with a 'judgement day' eh?

Today, 10th August 2012, was 'set in stone' as being the day we would find out if this famous old club with 114-years worth of history would be liquidated or not...

Whilst, admittedly, when this news came about a couple of weeks back I was pretty sure that this would prove the conclusive date for us and I was 'happy' to know that our fate would be decided one way or t'other the closer this date has drawn the less my gut feeling has been that this genuinely was the definitive date.

The departure of TBH yesterday has of course made the threat of us folding even less likely, yet it is still not a forgone conclusion I guess...

By all accounts I hear that a parachute payment comes through on, or around, this date so the likelihood is/was there was always likely to be a little bit in the coffers to carry over - with more of the high earners gone, well basically all of them (and Lawrence has agreed to leave), the operating costs should be at an almost bare minimum now.

If today was liquidation day did a takeover need to be completed, if so will this be the case - if 'an agreement in principle' is the case then surely this will be the conclusive factor today, or will it?

Would avoiding liquidation today mean that this is now something almost certainly - at least at this juncture - going to be avoiding now then?

Lets just hope today does bring us some form of resolution, whoever the owners are to be - and I think it is pretty clear who I would prefer to see takeover!

I am also thinking I will make a vow, call it 'burying my head in the sand or not', that if/when ownership issues are sorted out I will pretty much exclusively just get back to talking about football again, after all this is what this site is meant to be about, as I am p****d off with the constant ramblings of virtually everything but this in recent times!

Of course forum talks about whatever anyone wants to talk about will always be the case, and NO ONE will ever be prevented from talking about exactly what they want to - I merely just want to get back to writing about football for the front pages again...

I would love to talk about football and players and tactics again, but have you looked at the team, errr what team! Our first competitive match is next week, and until we have signed enough players to put out a team i am going to whinge like *&^%. Anyway! once BC takes over, we are nothing more than a Zombie club, with a budget for players including staff of less than 2 million, The PST had a budget for even less that that, and we will be on a par with Non League Conference South teams in the quality of players we can bring in this season, so dont expect many of the current triallists to be about by midweek. BC's plan is to now run the club on an absolute minimum, he is not bothered whether Pompey stay up this season in fact its almost guaranteed we are going down. and then at the end of next season once all parachute payments have been made and there is no more income from the PL, then the he will put the club into admin again and walk away. except there wont be an administration just liquidation and the knowledge he can get even more money by selling off the stadium blah blah blah. Its called maximising your return! anyone who thinks BC was ever anything but a money lender is wrong, once a Judas always a Judas. If only we could talk about football
