'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Ben-Haim 'hints' he is leaving

The 'big one' that we need to leave is Tal Ben-Haim, should he do this then the chances of Pompey avoiding liquidation on Friday will swing in our favour.

Having been booed once more by the Pompey fans during our thumping 3-0 win over Bolton at Fratton on Saturday, as he was at Aldershot in midweek, TBH is 'hinting' that he will be leaving in the next day or so?

Tuesday, according to his thoughts in The Sunday Express, could well be the day he goes: 'we are still talking and hopefully I will have something to tell you by Tuesday.

'There is not much more I can say at the moment. I don't want to say anything that will not be helpful.'

This is the most positive that he has sounded about moving on so lets hope and pray that a realistic compromise to get the £2m earner out of his contract can be arranged.

Where he goes I could not give a monkies, I just hope he does!

'If' he does that will leave us with just the one senior 1st team player to move on, although apparently Liam Lawrence - who scored a belter against Bolton - 'might' agree a deal to allow him to stay at Fratton on affordable terms?

Although you would think that would be unlikely wouldn't you...

Re: booing; I couldn't decide whether he ought to be boo'ed or not. On the one hand if he thinks we hate him, he might leave but on the other he may think, 'you can stick club up bottom, I no leave and you liquidiated will be, no?' Take that you, so called Pompey fans! I decided as he was still a Pompey player, I would just clap Him. (in irons? that's wishful thinking)

Don't agree with the booing, neither do i think that its all his fault no agreement has been reached yet, im sure he will walk by tuesday i feel sure he doe's not want the club to fold.

It would be great to keep lawrence on reduced terms, if he stays injury free that is. I think he'd be a good influence on the youngsters and could stay as captain. He is one who is always up for the fight which is exactly what we need in League 1. Guess we'll see next week. PUP!!

Before today I was thinking that both LL and TBH where going to stay as Appy decided to include them in his team, but I couldn't figure out how. However, I think that LL will be our captain next year. I am sure he is going to negotiate his wage because the man is loyal. Last season he sold tickets in the selling booth and said all the way that he is the captain and if Pompey have dropped a league, he'd still be up for the fight. I'd love to see him here next season, that is next week! PuP

Giving Liam a long contract on fair terms with win and promotional bonuses would be a way forward. Maybe a promise of a coaching role might help. He could be great for the young players as Moley says.
