'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Credit to the Chelsea boys

I think that many would be forgiven for not realising, or even knowing, that Chelsea Football Club is a one that has previously been within touching distance of going out of business as a club too.

The financial backing seen by them, for the past decade or so by Roman Abramovich (if this 'could' come at a price at a latter stage is open for debate), has seen them become one of the biggest clubs in English, European, even world football, but they too have seen tough times in the past.

As such our current plight has not gone unnoticed and our friends at Vital Chelsea have shown a fair amount of support for Pompey in recent days.

Portsmouth - We're With You!
SOTN 86 - A Plea To The Club.

Ok, at this point in time the thoughts of getting players to come and play for PFC (from them or others) are kind of, in many ways, irrelevant (as if the situation as regards to the current senior players going without huge pay-offs is not resolved in the next couple of weeks there WILL NOT be a Portsmouth Football Club as we know it now anyway!) it is nice to know that backing is coming for us and for that I do thank the guys at Vital Chelsea who are making pro-active moves to try and encourage help for us from their club down the line.

I am led to believe that this attempted backing is going to step up a notch or two if possible?

Some might say that this is 'of little comfort', but it is nevertheless appreciated and credit must go to those showing us support and appreciating our plight - afterall all, whatever your club, we are all football fans right...

Is the current Portsmouth Football Club beyond saving?

Well, maybe so... Also, maybe it 'might' even be strongly argued it would be better to start afresh?

Whatever though this is something that will (I really do pray!) can be resolved one way or the other in these coming weeks as I think we have all had enough of this nightmare situation that constantly drags on and seems to be never ending!

Having exchanged views, via email, with some of those involved on Vital Chelsea today it is nice to know that an understanding of things is kind of there with others. (Of course I realise that many others, besides Chelsea, also appreciate that it is not simply a case, as some do seem to think, of 'you spent beyond your means to get into this state so it is your fault!')

'If' we can get past this latest, and most dangerous period of all from the past few years, any help that we can get from others, such as Chelsea, at little to no cost to this club would be appreciated and indeed needed...

Chelsea here, that's a nice article. I used to work in Pompey, so I've spent many weeknight games at Fratton Park in the eighties. Whatever happens I for one wish you all the best, can't wait to hear those bloody annoying chimes again! ;)

Cheers Rug -we're doing a petition to try and garner some support from the fans to take to the club. Obviously time is of the essence and if the club are able to do something then we have to move quickly, but if we get 1,000 names I'll take the petition to the club myself. As you say - its all irrelevent at this stage as if the club does not come through the newxt few days then its all pointless waste of hot air. But if you can come through this - and strike a deal with the likes of TBH and others, then we'll shoot this off to the club and see if Chelsea can help. Never hurts to ask, right? Fingers crossed for you lads.

indeed it does not OLASAL, it is the likes of yourself (and many others from recent times) that are actually trying to make pro-active moves to do something, as opposed to nothing, that 'might' make a difference...

Cheers. Very much hoping that PFC is saved. A historic club that thoroughly deserves it.

Thanks Chelsea Boys... your support is very much appreciated and has not gone unnoticed. We need all the help we can muster and that includes moral support.

We are together in this trying period lads. I am praying for your proud football club and hoping that all will be well. It's so sad to see Pompey in such a situation, but i can only hope you get any support you can get from even, my Chelsea.

Cheers Chelsea guys - these are tough times, our hearts are breaking and sometimes it feels we get nothing but stick and ridicule from other football fans - this show of support really helps me feel a little bit better.
