Leeds to pay Derby for Pompey's Varney!

Leeds to pay Derby for Pompey's Varney!

Rumour has it that Luke Varney's proposed move to Leeds will actually see them hand over cash to Derby, and not Pompey!

Having arrived from Derby last summer by all accounts, which (lets face it) would not be a surprise, they are still 'said' to be owed some £300,000 for his transfer from Pride Park to Fratton Park - as a result a reported £300,000 fee will go straight to Derby...

It could only happen with Pompey eh!

Although to be fair most football clubs work in such a way, a fee is agreed and paid off over god knows how many years in instalments - problem is, unlike the majority of others though, it seems that Pompey almost always struggle to pay these fees!

Assuming Leeds are paying £300,000, or more, then it would of course be money that would be much appreciated, and needed, but at the end of the day the removal of his wages from the extremely high wage bill is the priority.

With that in mind, in all honesty, the likes of Varney and most others would 'probably' have been given away on a free, or near enough, simply to remove the wages from the bill anyway really?

So, lets just shift him I say, that is of the utmost importance...

Thing is Rug its £300k that we owed anyway. Just saves the money washing around the banking system. The positives are a wage saved and £300k debt paid off....bonus. Next please :-)

Absolutely Corny. No difference whether we receive £300k, or whether we just get it paid to someone we owe.

Everyone that goes, fee or not, is a plus. And let's be honest £300k off the debt is not Varney leaving for free, it's a fee of £300k being used to pay the bill.

Evans - Right back or right midfield?

Drew Talbot and Adam Buxton are fit but Gareth Evans continues to fill in at right back. Should this change? If so where would it leave the battle between Evans and Carl Baker?
