Trialist numbers swell to 11!

Trialist numbers swell to 11!

As things stand, 'if' Pompey can get into a position to bring in the players - should they impress - we basically have enough trialists to supplement the youngsters that we have to give us a decent enough squad for next season!

We flew out to Spain with 8 trialists although another three have joined us.

French midfielder Julien Lopez, Greek defender Sotoris Balafas and veteran former Barnsley, among others, keeper David Preece have seen the trialist numbers increase to 11.

The need to offload the senior players we have at PFC remains as great as ever, hopefully getting rid of as many as is possible - as quickly as is possible - will enable us to have a shot of a future.

I cannot lie, as I expressed last night, that I still have my concerns about our future but you have to retain some hope and 'if' we can start to offload players ASAP then with these trialist, some of whom are decent enough players, we have a shot.

Again, as said last night, my concerns remain that why will clubs be in a hurry to conclude the transfers of players if they 'might' be able to pick them up for nothing if we are indeed liquidated...

I will try to be a little more optimistic now though that this will not happen, but you cannot bury your head in the sand can you.

A fair assumption though Rug. It does appear that there might be some smoke and mirrors going on though in the offices at FP. For a club that has one leg in the liquidiser it would seem odd for people to be talking about looking at new Training Grounds and be able to encourage anyone along to a pre-season training camp. So is it that, Appy could sell Ice to the eskimo's? The triallists are desperate to play and have had not other offers, so even Pompey's we may or may not be able to offer you a contract proposal seems attractive. I think that Varney, Norris and Huseklepp will move on but that might be all. Not sure if that's enough to allow the FL to give approval or Portpin or the Trust to continue with their offers but I can't believe that too many clubs have been away on Pre-season training with only about 20% of the players actually being contracted to them.

I'm quite down about the future now, I appreciate that Appy has to proceed on the basis that the season will start but I feel the FL believes that PFC will not survive the season so are pushing PFC to tipping point now. If Pompey go under pre season they will just replace us with the highest placed relegated club; if Pompey go under half way through the season the FL is properly stuffed.

As I wrote in "Hands Up" I haven't got a clue what's going on at PFC at the moment. Did I ever!!! There could well be some smoke & mirrors, there could also be a concerted push to liquidation by the FL. Re the trialists, I hope we are allowed to take them on. Re the overpaid lurkers, sure other clubs will be able to pick them up for nothing but won't liquidation mean them leaving with nowt in their pockets. Beam me up Scotty....my brain hurts.

i reckon it will all be ok and in a couple of seasons we will talking about a refurbished fratton park due to a partnership with some supermarket who, and build on the sasha land Micheal Appleton starts his first season in the championship for two years.

Hartlepool (a) - Safety first!

A win at Wimbledon made sure of a play-offs place. Technically we can finish in the top 3 but this would require an unlikely set of results from too many clubs wouldn't it?
