The sooner the better!

The sooner the better!

Someone, somewhere, is not entirely telling the truth are they?

Talking about a 'compromise' with Aaron Mokoena close to being agreed so he can leave Pompey Trevor Birch has said that no other offers for players have come in...

Yet Luke Varney is quoted on sky sports as saying: 'there are a couple of clubs speaking to Portsmouth and I believe that a fee was agreed with one of them on Tuesday, so it seems that I am getting closer to joining a new club every day.

'Hopefully, we can get things sorted before pre-season begins, which is the start of next week.'

Leeds, and Sheffield Wednesday, have been 'linked' with Varney but who it is that he leaves for I - no offence - do not really care, so long as Varney moves on.

This week these links to Leeds have been quite strong, so fingers crossed!

He does not really want to be here, we cannot afford for him to be here so it is better for everyone that he moves on so lets just hope this return to the level that he wants to be playing at - the championship - can indeed be sorted out, and the sooner the better...

July is here and slowly but surely the 'overpaid' players will leave (I hope).

Bye bye, please don't close the door behind you as we are hoping that most the others will follow.

Best of luck Reg. Won't be sad to see him go as he was never quite as good after his knee injury

I think it's about time Mr Birch came out and told the fans the truth, are there bids on the table for any players or not? Seems to me despite his protestations it's Birch who is holding up the release of some players.

To me its simple- NO ONE is goingto take on a Worker and pay his wages while he is on holiday, and they can let their current soon to be former employers pay, untl the work begins..only when you have competition for that player will they sign them early rather than lose them-simple. Once pre season starts, they will all go, TBH included. does any one know what is happening about Tkts for the Argyle game, will it be pay on the door

Done Deal - Smith in permanently from Swindon

The interest Pompey retained in Smith, with him 'in our sights' has resulted in him returning to the Blues on a permanent basis after signing for an 'undisclosed fee' from Swindon.

Cushioning the blow

Much, that needed saying, about Webster's exit for Ipswich and the arrival of Clarke in return (and cash) has been said hasn't it? Doyle's been spot on with what he said.

Swindon striker in 'Pompey's sights'

Michel Smith, who was of course on loan last season, could return? He's still in 'Pompey's sights' by all accounts after Swindon informed him he's 'surplus to requirements' now.
