Most Pompey Fans Want Mido...

Who Should Pompey Sign Up Front?

Yesterday I went on a scouting mission to find Pompey a striker and came up with six names, of which five I thought would be good signings!

You then had a chance to vote on who you wanted to see playing for Pompey in the near future. The article and results of the poll have been sent to the club (like they are going to take much notice!)

The majority of you wanted Mido (53%) with people agreeing that he is the sort of player that could help Pompey.

mido looks like a natural scorer. he may not be prolific but if that ball goes in the net as easy as the video was to my eyes then we will have nothing to worry about!

certainly think Mido could do the job

I think we are more likely to get Mido

THE REULTS

Mido 53%
David Nugent 19%
Freddy Eastwood 14%
Yakubu 6%
Kluivert 4%
Lee Trundle 4%

I forgot about Diego Forlan in that list as well but as "Raddi" pointed out, we could go for a number of players;

How about throwing a few more names into the ring? Kris Boyd of Rangers (surely a bid would test rangers resolve/and the players ambition), Marek Mintal of Nuremberg (a slovakian free scoring midfielder who gets 20 goals a season), Martin palermo (have said this before) of boca juniors (big european style centre forward), Rafael Sobis of brazilian club Internacional (currently in the Copa libertadores final/scores for fun). I know a lot of these might not be the most obvious but its clear that with our success rate at signing strikers this summer, we might have to be a little more inventive on the scouting front and look a little further a field? The Rabbi

Who are you voting for Harry?

Hey! Hands of Kris Boyd, he's staying put, and I'm not quite sure what you're getting at with test of the player's ambition? Do you think he would want to leave his boyhood heroes where the fans idolize him, he can play European football and he can win leagues & cups and go to a team who will finish mid table at best and have next to no chance of playing in European football or winning any cups? I'm not being funny but I don't think Boyd going to Portsmouth would be a step up for him at all.

As long as Boyd is getting a game for Rangers I can't see him ever wanting to leave, Rangers are his team and he's supported him all his life. If, however Paul le Guen didn't play him and he wanted first team football, I could see him going down to a team like Portsmouth and doing well.

Third time lucky? Nope as O'Shea interest ends

O'Shea saw a couple of bids for him put in; these were turned down by Chesterfield. A third bid hasn't come from Pompey and it isn't going to either.

Topping last seasons tally the aim

78pts was only enough for a play-off place last season so you suspect we'll have to better that for a top 3 finish this coming season, which begins with Carlisle at Fratton.

Done Deal - Smith in permanently from Swindon

The interest Pompey retained in Smith, with him 'in our sights' has resulted in him returning to the Blues on a permanent basis after signing for an 'undisclosed fee' from Swindon.
