Most Pompey Fans Want Mido...

Who Should Pompey Sign Up Front?

Yesterday I went on a scouting mission to find Pompey a striker and came up with six names, of which five I thought would be good signings!

You then had a chance to vote on who you wanted to see playing for Pompey in the near future. The article and results of the poll have been sent to the club (like they are going to take much notice!)

The majority of you wanted Mido (53%) with people agreeing that he is the sort of player that could help Pompey.

mido looks like a natural scorer. he may not be prolific but if that ball goes in the net as easy as the video was to my eyes then we will have nothing to worry about!

certainly think Mido could do the job
Tantona

I think we are more likely to get Mido
POMPEY MEV

THE REULTS

Mido 53%
David Nugent 19%
Freddy Eastwood 14%
Yakubu 6%
Kluivert 4%
Lee Trundle 4%

I forgot about Diego Forlan in that list as well but as "Raddi" pointed out, we could go for a number of players;

How about throwing a few more names into the ring? Kris Boyd of Rangers (surely a bid would test rangers resolve/and the players ambition), Marek Mintal of Nuremberg (a slovakian free scoring midfielder who gets 20 goals a season), Martin palermo (have said this before) of boca juniors (big european style centre forward), Rafael Sobis of brazilian club Internacional (currently in the Copa libertadores final/scores for fun). I know a lot of these might not be the most obvious but its clear that with our success rate at signing strikers this summer, we might have to be a little more inventive on the scouting front and look a little further a field? The Rabbi

Who are you voting for Harry?

Play up Pompey, Vital Pompey

yer but does harry want him?

Hey! Hands of Kris Boyd, he's staying put, and I'm not quite sure what you're getting at with test of the player's ambition? Do you think he would want to leave his boyhood heroes where the fans idolize him, he can play European football and he can win leagues & cups and go to a team who will finish mid table at best and have next to no chance of playing in European football or winning any cups? I'm not being funny but I don't think Boyd going to Portsmouth would be a step up for him at all.
Bud
i don't think it would either but i don't think it would be a step down!
lmatthews
As long as Boyd is getting a game for Rangers I can't see him ever wanting to leave, Rangers are his team and he's supported him all his life. If, however Paul le Guen didn't play him and he wanted first team football, I could see him going down to a team like Portsmouth and doing well.
Bud
good player aint he
lmatthews
And Bud is another case of other fans coming on to our wonderful site and putting Pompey down. F**k off back to scotland Buddy

Where did I put Pompey down? I was sticking up for my team just as you stick up for yours. Whatever happened to free speech?
Bud
Mido it is then from the looks of things...
pompeyrug
Dave Nugent is a better signing, although i would gladly have Mido. Personally i think we can get smoe better players than the one's on that list!
Westov
Is he the a good goalscorer though? What's his strike rate like?
Bud
not great 3 in 11 for spurs last 1/2 season
lmatthews
I think you should have went for John Hartson, he'd have put a few away for you.
Bud
I remeber Mido scoring a few against Pompey in the past couple of years - looked good to me. It now comes down to who is prepared to sign in such a short time span left. I think even the possible transfers of Eastwood or Nugent would have to be begun by Monday - so if we hear no rumours by Monday we might be in trouble. Also, with Koroman as 1 loan signing, and Fernandes probably the other, it looks like we won't be getting any D'Alessandro type loan signings before the deadline (although I'm happy with Fernandes !)
StuartM
I still think Arrys gonna pull somthing out of the bag here. I recon Yak would have been the perfect type of striker for us. I think with the likes of Kanu & Lua we have enough flare up there, & can also seeing some great balls from Fernandes if that ever materialises. But what we miss is a real target man. Toddy does well & you never know, he may well suprise us this season. He only really had small run out with Westham in the prem last time round, but all in all he has impressed me so far, does anyone know his goal - game time ratio?? how close is Arry to Shearer?????lol
CharlieChimes
petrov to villa he will rock 4 us cant blame him 4 choosing us tho as we are a bigger, better, richer, brighter and more advancing club !UNLUCKY
villasw
stuartM i think Fernandes is a D'Al type signing, i think he will be as good and as influential as D'Al once over the injury. I hope that assuming he can be fit within say a month that the club will continue with the loan plan, with the contract cost agreed for january. Charlie chimes, apparently last season Toddy's goals to game ratio was better than Kanu's so who knows this season. LoL :-D last friday Kanu was the second highest scorer in the league :-) long may it continue. and i see yet another villa fan is too bored with his own web site
russellm
"and more advancing", wot gowd inglish yow speek, thats neaqrly as good as the other idiot and his "world class european heritage" when they finished one place above us last season
russellm
Rabbi, at the weekend our martin palermo has been at that goal scoring thing again
