Axing the Axe

Axing the Axe

There have been little snippets about this over the past few days but it 'seems' as though Pompey are going to be handed a welcome boost by the news that Aaron Mokoena will be leaving the club.

He has 'agreed terms' with South Africa outfit Bidvest Wits all that is needed is 'just a matter of sorting things out with Portsmouth.'

It is that last section that does worry me though...

Clearly an agreement is needed with the club over some form of pay-off, at least some understanding on the payment of his deferred wages from last season?

Lets just hope that the 'sorting out' that is needed can happen sooner rather than later as I am left with little doubt, having been signed as a free agent and during our premier league days, that Moko is on a decent wage, which we need off the wage bill!

By all accounts, whilst it would help - although in many ways is need essential - we will not be getting a fee for him as he will be leaving on a free transfer.

The circa saving of £25k a month replacing him will be of use.

Fine, for a temporary option

Such is his ability Jackett decided to switch Clarke to the problematic left back spot against Blackpool - this isn't a permanent solution for the former Ipswich man though.
