Pompey fixtures published - now we need a team

Today is the day all fans look forward to as it is the day the next season`s fixtures are published!

However because of copyright rules which are being contested in the European Courts we are unable to publish them in full without running the risk of huge fines!

I can tell you that rather surprisingly Pompey`s first fixture sees Bournemouth visit Fratton Park on Saturday August 18. As this is the 'big` derby game it is strange that it should be the curtain raiser although last season did see Brighton come to the Park again in August.

Fans were singing 'were going to Shrewsbury` at the end of last season and by coincidence that is the final game of the season at the Shrew`s new £15m home - Greenhous Meadow.

Disappointingly a number of the shorter trips are again as last season pencilled in for midweek which could reduce the number of the Blue Army that follow their side.

If you want to view the complete list and plan the year ahead then you will need to go to the Official Site here

There are course a number of bridges to cross before the season kicks off and that starts next Monday when the clubs creditors meet to discuss the Portpin offer of 2p in the pound and possibly other offers should they materialise. The Trust I believe are still completing their bid but time is beginning to run out or we may be left with the only alternative which could mean that Pompey come out of administration without a CVA; suffering the inevitable points deduction.

Added to that hiccup there is also the minor problem that we do not have a side and training starts in just over two weeks!!

Fancy a flutter? You should get 9/1 or better. Sheff U 6/1 favourites.

Should guarantee a reasonable crowd to start the season; although there will be easier matches in this league.

From North West Kent I was looking forward to Colchester & Crawley for a couple of relatively local games. Both moved to a Tuesday. At leat we wont have SKy to contend with, or could they move the opener to a Friday night, nah.

Ihatemidweektvgames I would have thought Orient would have been a lot closer (although at end of season) than Colchester and a shame Charlton got promotion!! Sky will show a few League 1 games and I expect us to be picked for one but no idea which.

Yeovil away for me and Home park for the cup game

at home to Bournemouth is a great way to kick off the season, hopefully get a few through the gates. Preston away is on Easter bank holiday Saturday - and apparently its only 20 minutes from Blackpool . . . stick of rock anyone?
tracyc
Can't get excited about any games until such time we have 16 players available to turn up!
Bluedr
Excited for the season now but as you said we need some players first.

tracyc You are right Blackpool is a short hike from Preston but Easter Saturday in north-west England is no time to sit on the beach is it?
