Pompey face Plymouth in league cup

Pompey face Plymouth in league cup

The first fixture of Pompey's 2012/13 season has been revealed, and this is quite literally our first fixture as the 'Capital One' league cup tie is the first fixture of the season as this is played the midweek before the league one season kicks-off!

Following this draw, in which Pompey were among the seeds, we will face Plymouth.

This tie will take place at Home Park on either Tuesday 14th or Wednesday 15th August, the date will be confirmed in the coming days as will be the kick-off time. Although, if both clubs agree, it is possible that this can be played on Saturday 11th or Sunday 12th.

Hopefully, as much as the league will be the priority I know, this season we can avoid an exit at the first hurdle having been embarrassed in the 1st round by Barnet at Fratton last season.

Personally I am delighted with this as being based in Devon, Dawlish in fact, this is a rare occasion where I have little travelling to do!

What do you reckon guys is this a good or bad draw, and what are your expectations for the outcome of it?

Just had a look at the whole draw and Devon clubs have done well all at home with big name opposition - Torquay have Leicester and Exeter, Palace.

Davies to Tranmere as Blues close in on Thompson?

With Burgess, Clarke and Whatmough ahead of him Davies' chances at Pompey are limited, especially if Swindon's Thompson completes move to Fratton Park - Davies could join Tranmere?
