Thought you wanted to stay Kelvin? Hey ho!

Just a few weeks ago Kelvin Etuhu was telling the official website that he wanted to stay with Pompey.

Today he completed a move to Barnsley...

This move was a move that Barnsley felt was a no go but they have today completed his signing on a 1-year contract with him a free agent so Appy has lost another player, and one that he did want to keep having offered him a new contract.

Keeping the guy is something I would have liked but - as much as we do need players! - I adopt a kind of 'hey ho' mentality.

This is of course a blow and disappointment to Appy though I am sure who is already working with his hands tied without losing those that he would like to keep, and realistically thought he would!

I appreciate that it is a difficult period for players, they cannot wait around forever to know what the state of play with Pompey is and will not take massive pay-cuts - surely he was not on much anyway though? - but quite clearly something has changed to make Etuhu decide to look elsewhere, what this was is open to interpretation...

never rated him, assume he still fancies himself with a "bigger" club as signed for 1 year only, another shop window club.

Yeh thought he might of stayed, but you know footballers these days, they say one thing and do another.

Little bit weird. Barnsley are better placed of course - but a 1 year deal? But: you'd be forgiven for thinking that Appy didn't really fancy him full on - was slow to put him back in the side... ...but since then, had made noises about him being "one of the senior pro's", and (reading between the lines), even (came across to me), the possibility of him being skipper, as one of the older players to a team full of kids. Maybe the fact that we haven't yet shifted a lot of the other more experienced players (combined with the bleedin' obvious of not yet knowing where we'll be in a month's time), was too much for him to 'risk'.

Match highlights - Pompey 0-1 Orient

Disappointing as it was, you take the rough with the smooth and cannot gloss over things when they aren't so good so here goes with the 1-0 defeat Pompey suffered against Orient.

Simply not good enough!

Call me a moaner, call me a groaner but if you think the performance against Orient was good enough then I think you're wearing blue tinted specs as that was poor from Pompey.
