'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Never EVER gonna happen!!

If Pompey were lucky enough to have any interest shown in Dave Kitson I reckon whoever was showing this interest would not have long to wait for an answer...

It would be hell yes!

Assuming Kitson was let go without a fee, something that would be more than acceptable, the major sticking point would be his wages - who in their right mind would ever pay him something in the region of a 'reported' £19,000 p/w?

Oh wait, Pompey would...

Given this level of wage then as soon as a club at league one level is 'linked' with him then I think we can right away rule this out.

With that in mind I think that we can quite safely say that the 'rumours' of an interest from Sheffield United are exactly that - he was spotted at a recent play-off game of theirs and this has seen two and two put together with conclusions jumped to...

As if it was needed Trevor Birch, talking to The Sheffield Star, has refuted reports linking him with The Blades: 'there has not been an approach from United for Dave.

'Dave is under contract here but he is available.'

Even if a league one club would pay his wages it almost certainly would not be Sheffield United as just a few days ago 'cost cutting measures' with a more 'workable budget' needed this season was something that I saw the club talking about. Couple that with 11 players, including some, I would guess, high earners released they will not replace them with another high earner, especially one that is hardly a world-beater!

Like I say in the title Dave Kitson to Sheffield United, arguably anyone this summer, is 'never EVER gonna happen'...

Was never quite convinced by the signing of him but after being spoilt with some strikers in the prem... His attitude has always been suspect & no doubt not the best in a dressing room when the going gets tough. Money aside the quicker he goes the better.

Looks like we are going to be stuck with a bunch of high-earning players according to the news; Ben Haim and Kanu. If these two refused to be paid off, what can we do with them? Play them or refuse to play them? Can the club not let them train with the other players? Can the club just pay them to do nothing at all so that in 12 months time they will have forgotten how to play football and never work in football again? (which might make them start being reasonable and move to another club) Although Kanu surely won't find another club that will pay him anything. I think I'd make Kanu play every match and train every day until he dies of exhaustion - which will be September by my reckoning! TBH? Make him play every game, train every day, make him captain, make him a defensive midfielder or goalkeeper, make him sorry he ever signed for Pompey (already is, I suspect)

Jeez... I came to the front page for some relaxation. I've already had a rant about these players plus Lampitt et al in the forum, so here it is... So what's the difference between TBH and that nice Mr Lampitt? Answer : F*ck all. Both show a total lack of integrity, and both obviously worship the all powerful 'money god' that seems to rule supreme in our world today. I thought Campbell was a one off in his demand for image rights when the club was on its back a couple of years ago. How wrong I was, these leeches are everywhere... Makes me feel angry but also very sad that personal gain comes above all else...

That's fine, but what are you gonna do with them if they refuse to leave? Interesting and pertinent question. Not YOU ARE THE REF but YOU ARE THE MANAGER. So what, then?
Et_tu_Pompeii
Hasn't not playing TBH already been tried? The situation is looking desperate now, everybody is demanding their piece of silver, Chanrai, Lampitt, TBH and now it saddens me to say, Kanu. its looking more and more like liquidation is going to be the only answer. I can't see that the Trust's bid is going to be able to afford all this.

Will Liqu. Mean they get bu99er all? That would sharpen their decision making. When did football become so player centric. In a child centered society/country, that's some achievement.
Et_tu_Pompeii
I assume the lack of response to my questions means you lot know as little as I do.

good poll suggestion Et_tu...
if it is the 'will liquidation mean they get bugger all' question then i can answer and say that even if we are liquidated, incredibly, players are still a secured creditor from what i am (pretty sure) i was told - the remainder of their contracts are paid up using whatever assets are sold if upon liquation...

as for the 'what to do if they leave' i would love to say 'let them rot' but they get paid either way, and whilst it would 'probably' make us weaker by playing both i think i would make them play week-in-week-out, let them get abuse from the terraces, let them regret ever signing for PFC, let them be the ones that 'go on strike' and a refusal to play 'should' allow us to terminate their contracts for a breach of this?

Cheers Rug, good answers, I'm in favour of the 'play 'em and exhaust 'em' policy; that'll make them reconsider their careers.
