Some good news...

Some good news...

The words 'some good news' are rarely heard in connection with Portsmouth Football Club these days are they!

Although those very words form a quote, in The News, from PKF spokesman Andy Konieczko today.

According to him, although there is nothing official from the football league, Pompey will not be docked further points going into league one next season: 'Trevor has been in constant contact with the Football League and letting them know what is likely to happen at the club.

'He knows there will not be any further points deduction for Pompey, so that's some good news.'

That is indeed some good news, right?

The fears were that we could go into next season on -17pts, but if these quotes are indeed correct then we will go into the season on an even footing, at least as far as the league table goes and if nothing else this gives us a fighting chance of staying in that division!

Ok, ok, I know many would be looking at something more than just 'staying in league one' but getting relegated into league two is something that must be avoided.

If we can somehow push for promotion then that would be great but I do not think, realistically, I am being 'negative' by saying avoiding another relegation is the priority, am I?

The summer conference takes place later this week, during this conference Pompey will have to give some pretty strong evidence that we will have owners in place and be able to fulfil our fixtures.

As things stand, preferred owner or not, with Balram Chainrai 'set' to return again this looks like something we will be able to do...

Sounds excellent news if it is true - the last time I looked at League rules you were only punished for the same crime once! However no CVA would be a separate crime and a deduction.

To be honest i didn't even know that we might of got a points deduction! I'm just worried about what players we will have left and who's going to buy our club. But this is good news, especially as you said we could of had -17 points at the start of the season. Don't think we would of had any chance of promotion if we started with that.

Well maybe there is a Lord in heaven after all looking down on little PFC. Let's face it, we need every scrap of good news we can get hold of in our present predicament... PUP

Third time lucky? Nope as O'Shea interest ends

O'Shea saw a couple of bids for him put in; these were turned down by Chesterfield. A third bid hasn't come from Pompey and it isn't going to either.

Topping last seasons tally the aim

78pts was only enough for a play-off place last season so you suspect we'll have to better that for a top 3 finish this coming season, which begins with Carlisle at Fratton.

Done Deal - Smith in permanently from Swindon

The interest Pompey retained in Smith, with him 'in our sights' has resulted in him returning to the Blues on a permanent basis after signing for an 'undisclosed fee' from Swindon.
