Aldershot added to pre-season

The latest part of Pompey's pre-season plans has been announced.

Aldershot will welcome us in a friendly on Wednesday 1st August, as their official website confirmed on Wednesday night...

Portsmouth Football Club to face the Shots in a pre-season friendly

Aldershot Town will face fellow Hampshire team Portsmouth FC in a pre-season friendly match on Wednesday 1st August.

Portsmouth, who are managed by Michael Appleton have seen a dramatic downturn in their fortunes over the last few years, coming from FA Cup success in the Premier League in 2008 to their disappointing end to last season which saw them drop into the third tier for the first time since 1983.

Both Pompey and Shots supporters will recall matches between the two clubs from the days when both teams were in the old Fourth division. The teams also played each other several times in both League and FA Cup, The Shots beating Pompey 3:1 at Fratton Park in a second round encounter in 1982, the last time the 'old' Shots played the south coast side. August's upcoming match will give both clubs and fans an opportunity to remember old times and renew friendly rivalries.

Entry prices will be 10 and 5, kick-off 7.45pm.

Much like the game against AFC Wimbledon, a week later I think, I would say that I am very much up for this friendly and hope to be able to make it.

Of course I will go if I can justify the travel costs involved from Devon for a pre-season game...

Another good pre-season game. These are exactly the type of teams we should be playing to get prepared for life in League One next season. I too might go as Aldershot isn't that too far away.

Almost a short walk and remember some happy times and less than happy as the Football community tried to save the old club - yes I was at their penutimate game as they lost 5-1 to Mansfield Town.
