You're the one that I want!

You're the one that I want!

The votes have been cast, counted and verified so we now know Appy, as voted for by you the Vital Pompey Voters, is the man that we not only expect to be in charge at Fratton Park next season but want in charge too!

As with any manager Appy got a little, albeit very minimal, criticism at times last season - and, as tough as I found it to be critical of him, you have to appreciate and understand where some people were coming from.

If being ultra critical you could look at some of his tactical selections, and moves - or non-moves - from the subs bench and say 'I would have done this' or 'I would have done that', but hey it is bloody easy to manage from the stands isn't it!

Given the fact that quite literally both hands were forcefully tied behind his back within days of his arrival, given all that he - and we - had to contend with I reckon the guy did a pretty good job.

Best of all he did this the Pompey way really, with dignity and pride!

In all reality given the squad that we had relegation should not have occurred, but given everything that did happen you can see why it did and it was something of an inevitable thing for a long while...

I retain my belief that Appy is 'the best thing to happen to Pompey in years' and feel, given the correct backing - and I do not mean financially, I mean the correct amount of time to bring in the free agents that he wants this summer, and loanees, on realistic and sustainable money - he can build that 'special something' he wants too.

Given the limited players he did bring in last season I think he proved that he has 'an eye for a player' so I am excited to see what he can do given, like I say, the correct backing and time. His belief, and willing, to follow a youthful model is something I also like and agree with and wholeheartedly see as the way forward.

Yep, without a shadow of a doubt I am, and was, in the 83% that wants it to be the case that he is in charge next season...

What the poll asked - Do you expect Appy to be in charge next season?

How you voted - Yep (and I want this) 83%
Nope (but I wish he was) 12%
Nope (and I would be happy) 3%
Not sure... 1%
Yep (but I do not want this) 1%

Before we move on what are your thoughts on what the last poll concluded?

You know what to do guys, leave your thoughts below please. Also vote on the latest poll to your right...

Let's face it Appy is the only good thing we have going for us at the moment so those calling for his head must be totally *******! I am confident that with Appy in charge and no points deduction we will give it a good go next season IF...

2-1 Favourite to go back to the Baggies, on a 3 year deal so a compensation package would need to be agreed. He now becomes a tradeable commodity like the players. 500k and TB will take it.

Third time lucky? Nope as O'Shea interest ends

O'Shea saw a couple of bids for him put in; these were turned down by Chesterfield. A third bid hasn't come from Pompey and it isn't going to either.

Topping last seasons tally the aim

78pts was only enough for a play-off place last season so you suspect we'll have to better that for a top 3 finish this coming season, which begins with Carlisle at Fratton.

Done Deal - Smith in permanently from Swindon

The interest Pompey retained in Smith, with him 'in our sights' has resulted in him returning to the Blues on a permanent basis after signing for an 'undisclosed fee' from Swindon.
