'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Leeds 'look to have won' Ward race?

So, the thoughts that Joel Ward could be among the '20% that Pompey build a future around' are likely to be unlikely then eh?

Then again, as I mentioned in the article that contained such thoughts, with him being a sellable asset the highly likely probability is that he will, as he always was going to be, be one of those that does leave.

According to The Mail today he is indeed going to be moving on with a move to Leeds lined up.

The report said: 'Leeds United look to have won the race to sign Portsmouth defender Joel Ward ahead of interest from Ipswich.'

Not much basis to the 'reports' but his departure would seem imminent...

Should Ward become the next to leave could this become the spark to finally ignite the fire sale that is needed this summer?

The News 15/5 "Trevor Birch has revealed Joel Ward is the only player to have attracted a bid as the Pompey fire sale hits the buffers. Birch has insisted Leeds may not be his destination, with Ipswich and Burnley also talking to the 22-year-old."...."The expected exit of Ward, however, does little to assist Birch’s efforts to get the wage bill under control and bring in much-needed funds to keep the club alive. Ward, whose last contract was signed in January 2011, is one of the lowest-paid players at the club." Then why sell him????? we need him!
