Milan: Petrov Bid Over

Milan: Petrov Bid Over

Having offered Celtic the six million they where demanding, Celtic turned back round and asked for seven. Milan Mandaric has now informed Harry Redknapp that we will have to look elsewhere.

'Unfortunately we have to look for someone else,' Mandaric told the Daily Record.

'The transfer window is going to close very soon and, with all due respect, Celtic are being unreasonable with their demands.

'We have tried everything possible to make this deal happen but I don't want to get involved in talking about numbers or how many offers we have made.

'All I will say is I don't think Celtic have any intention of letting him go to us or to anyone else.

'If they needed the money from his sale to buy in other players then they would have been more reasonable with us.

'Instead, all they have done is increase and increase their demands.

'There is now nothing more we can do. We rate him highly and we wanted him but we now have to move on.'

I`m concerned that Portsmouth will get desperate and chuck money at players! If Martins does join Pompey over Newcastle then he is likely to be joining us for the money, do we really want a player who is at our club for the money?

I think going for players that would relish the chance of playing for Pompey is a better policy. People like Nugent would be excited by the step up and would want to prove himself on the big stage. Steve Malbranque would be grateful to Portsmouth for getting him out of his Fulham hell. Get those two in along with Fernandes on loan and I can see a promising season ahead for us!

This is the third time we've pulled the plug, I just hope that we do walk away for sure this time and spend the last 8 days of the transfer window on players that will sign. Nugent would be a really goo signing, he would have an impact like Darren Bent. Steed Malbranque is quality, so bringing him in might not be a bad thing. I'd still like Anelka, and can still see this happening...

Steed Malbranque waone of the better players in the premier last year so he would be a great signing, but i would love to get Muntari because he's even better. Pay the money for the players and we will succeed

I think we should just forget about him. He is a quality player but the Ginger scummer is taking the *****. Let them keep him. He is unhappy there and hopefully that will reflect on their football. ******* Scottish!!! Buncha wrong'ns

Why the ***** should Celtic relent to a provincial club with a stadium one third the size of ours, far less, turnover, no real history or pedigree, managed by a car salesman and run by an egotistical idiot? Who the ***** do you think you are? We're talking about Portsmouth and Celtic here! Petrov is a 3 time Bulgarian player of the year with Champions League exoperience. He's worth much more than £7m if Martins is worth £10m. Time for a wee reality check for you people.

rather than spend £7m on petrov, why don't we buy malbranque for £2m instead? Can anyone tell me why this has never been mentioned before? Is Willie Mckay his agent?

Done Deal - Smith in permanently from Swindon

The interest Pompey retained in Smith, with him 'in our sights' has resulted in him returning to the Blues on a permanent basis after signing for an 'undisclosed fee' from Swindon.

Cushioning the blow

Much, that needed saying, about Webster's exit for Ipswich and the arrival of Clarke in return (and cash) has been said hasn't it? Doyle's been spot on with what he said.

Swindon striker in 'Pompey's sights'

Michel Smith, who was of course on loan last season, could return? He's still in 'Pompey's sights' by all accounts after Swindon informed him he's 'surplus to requirements' now.
