Pompey off to Spain (hopefully!)

The 'rumours' that Pompey planned to head to Spain for pre-season have proven to be true with the club today confirming that - provided we successfully beat the threat of liquation! - we are off to Spain between Monday 16th-Thursday 26th July.

The Gibraltar national side will be faced on Friday 20th July.

Full details, as issued on The Pompey Site, are below...

Gibraltar v Pompey

Pompey will play the Gibraltar national side as part of their pre-season tour this summer.

Michael Appleton's squad will be based in Spain and take on Gibraltar on Friday, July 20 in an 8pm kick-off.

Pompey are planning another game during their stay between Monday, July 16 and Thursday, July 26.

The tour, which is being funded by sponsors, is dependent on the successful outcome of Pompey`s period in administration.

Gibraltar regularly play Football League sides and in January hosted Bury, one of Pompey's League One opponents next season.

The Gibraltar Football Association was formed in 1895 and next year are hoping to join UEFA.

Ticket details for the game against Gibraltar will be announced closer to the date.

Well done the sponsors, and well done Pompey for a sensible pre-season tour this year (not that they had much choice!!).
