So How Good is Martins?
Martins would do a job in any premiership side, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United etc… He played in a champions league match against Arsenal and single handily ripped them apart.
In my opinion he is better than Crespo, who Inter have bought in to replace Martins. He currently has a lot of players at Inter ahead of him.(I would recommend Pompey going for his team mate Alvaro Recoba if we miss out on Martins!)

Have to say...Martins does look 'mustard'. Interesting to see he does EXACTLY the same type of flik-flak as LuaLua! Hopefully if he does come to FP, which I can't see to honest, he'd be a bit less prone to injury!

Let him go to Newcastle another 10 million off the books, a couple of weeks and out injured as Newcastle slip deeper into debt and down the table.

I think his pace is electric. he has flattered to deceive in recent years. the biggest thing is his supposed age. Listed as 21 many believe he could be around 27. When signing a five year contract this could have serious repercussions. I think we can spend £10m better elsewhere personally.

I have to say, that I am not convinced he is worth the money!
His goal scoring record ia not impresseive, and although he shows brilliant bursts of speed and skill he is a little like LULU in as much as he blows hot and cold.
As for putney's comment about less injury prone, he is putting his average scoring record down to his history of ijuries! I suspect from his past few seasons that he would only be worth 10 - 12 goals a season!

He's absoloutly class both at international and club level. People question his goalscoring records and how many minutes he has played, but the majority of those performences were substitutions. Harry has a big budget and it doesn't look like he's gonna buy many players now, so outbid every club and pay him the money he wants!

Yeah, but if he aint gonna perform any better than what we have why waste money for the sake of it? We need someone who can put the ball in the back of the net. I dont care if he's not as skillful or colourful as long as he scores 20 plus a season. Surely it is results that count and we already have flashy LULU, and Benji who are clever and creatiuve, but neither of them is or is likely to be prolific. Kanu did good on Sat, but his recent history also only implies a few goals a season, which may increase with the right style, but he isnty gonna be worth 20 goals either.

Not another triple summersault flipper ! You could imagine Lua and Martins having competitions to see who can do the most flips ! His performances reminds me alot of Yakubu which is why Harry likes him I guess - some good skill, but I'd get so nervous every time he scored knowing he could get injured like Lua does every year. I won't cry if we don't sign him, but will be happy if we do. I think he can put away the good chances by this evidence.

He's good, very good, but I'd rather spend £10m and get Anelka, he has a proven scoring record. Martins, in my opinion would be nothing different to what we already have, except being FAR more expensive. His pace maybe slightly more than we have, but trickery no different to LuaLua or Kanu. His goalscoring record without doubt no better than anyone we have. So I'd rather this £10m put towards someone like Anelka, or at least towards wages of another...
