Pearce Praises 'Arry

Pearce Praises 'Arry

Pearce has praised Harry for keeping Portsmouth up and signing Sol Campbell.

'Sol Campbell's move to Portsmouth could end up looking like the signing of the season,' said Pearce.

'We had them watched on Saturday and the report back was Sol did really well.

'He has everything you want in a defender; size, experience, know-how and presence.

'A player of his ability probably had a lot of offers but, credit to Portsmouth, they have put the money down to pay his wages and it could work out well for them.'

'Harry did a hell of a job keeping them in the Premiership last season,' said Pearce.

'I saw them lose at Aston Villa in March and thought they were in big, big trouble.

'But the one thing about Harry is that he is prepared to put his neck on the line.

'He took a huge gamble in bringing about 12 players in during the transfer window. But, by speculating like that, he eventually got his team playing and probably saved the club something like £40million.'

Pompey Night tonight at 9 O'Clock! Vital Pompey will have live updates from Pompey's game against Man City, Wedneday night.

so what? pearce will be lucky to last the season. Most of the city fans I spoke to on the way back from Wigan last season didn't rate him that highly and said he had just courted the national press.

I agree with "nelson", SP has great passion for both Man City and football and to have such passion for a club he's only manged for a year, you have to give him credit. Let's just hope his passion for Man City falls away at the city of manchester stadium when portsmouth beat them 2-1!

I think Pearce has really missed Shaun Wright Phillips and in the second half of the season last year they were not good at all. 2-0 to Pompey and Pearce under pressure.

Pearce is a legend, his passion is matched by few. I hope he does well with City this season (not tonight though!) although I worry that things won't have the fairy tail ending he'd like and he might not make the seasons end...

Evans - Right back or right midfield?

Drew Talbot and Adam Buxton are fit but Gareth Evans continues to fill in at right back. Should this change? If so where would it leave the battle between Evans and Carl Baker?
